Alright, as I have said my brother is no longer doing the art in my next game so I have to learn how.  I decided to switch from 320x200 to 640x400 so I could get a little bit more detail.  The only problem with this is I have to update all of my sprites to twice their size which isn't working all that well.

Here's Nathan: The main character in my last game

Here are the sprites I am working on for my next game:

I am somewhat happy with the front view but I am totally stuck on the side view, it just looks strange and I'm not sure what to do with it.

Nikolas

Your sprites do not show... :(

Ethan D

Thats weird... I can see them from my computer.

Babar

I can see it..?

Your lo-res sprites actually have more detail than the hi-res one...but I guess you haven't completed those yet?

About the side-view, I guess certain things don't line/match up (like the eyes, or the hem of the pants). Also, the hair of your side view seems to go into the forehead, while the front view makes it look like it might have popped up a bit forward.

Now, with his very own game: Alien Time Zone

I guess that's another problem that I'm having, I'm not sure how to shade sprites of people since I'm new to this whole thing.

Alright I think I've got it figured out thanks

Hi, I thought I make a quick remake of the front view, I hope you do not mind.

Here he is!

I used almost all of your colors, though I should have changed the contrasts of the grays, I did change the color of the skin.
I mostly worked on the upper part and tried to put him more into proportion.

Ok I hope I was of any help! =D

I definitely like what you did with Nathan, but he looks a little bit too relaxed and serious.... if that makes sense (his face is serious and his posture looks relaxed.  But the hands, feet and belt were much better than my design so here is what I have now.

I'm trying to give him a sort of a business man look but not too much. I think this should work.  Thanks for the help.

Although, I'll probably keep on modifying him.

Matti

I think Lad's version is quite good. The face / head as well as the shoulders / arms are a huge improvement. I'd really copy that stuff.

Lad

 Did another quick edit.
Fixed my front view a bit, changed contrasts. Also made the side view to the right.
You may copy any element that you like, feel free!

Ok I present him again! =D

Ethan D

For some reason when I copy it into paint it comes up with black all around it which makes it difficult to find the right lines you used.

That's because of the alpha-channel, which Paint can't handle. But you can just take a screenshot of the browser, then you have your sprites..

EDIT: Here they are without the channel

Alright, I have the back view now, The only problem I'm seeing is that Nathan now looks fat.  I tried making him a little thinner but it made his arms look very rigid.  Any ideas on how to improve it?
