Hi everyone, first of all I'd like to thank all of the people who've encouraged me on my project and helped me upgrade my artworks as well with all of their advices.
I've created this topic since I've worked a lot on my game recently and I wanted to share the latest updates and get your feedback on the art style; Please take a look below on the artworks and your feedback is very much appreciated since this is my first game and I'm thrilled to introduce it to everyone:

Game Name: Vague

The player wakes up to find himself locked up in some sort of a cell and an inmate is sleeping there; "Is it a prison?, a hospital?, is it another thing?", that's what you're going to learn throughout the whole story in "Vague" starting with a flashback that leads to such point in the game, then you progress to finish the story.

The main character is: Mccoy (I've attached a picture from his front, and the animation of the side)

More details to come soon but until then, i'd like to know your feedbacks on the art style, animation...etc

I quite like how the room has turned out. And the breathing animation is cool.
That grate on the wall, is that meant to be an air vent? Because with that door there, it doesn't look like a plausible place to put an air vent.

Thanks for your support...i actually managed in Vague to combine between old school gameplay with a modern art style, i hope it's satisfying as i'm thrilled to release a demo level very soon.
Considering the vent, yes it's supposed to be a vent connecting rooms together, i positioned it so that afterwards you'll find that this place has many rooms connected to each other "so it will come in handy sometime as i don't wanna spoil anything now :)"

I'll release a small demo just to test the functions and how the gameplay works and reviewed amongst the forum, hope you like it

That game of noughts and crosses doesn't make sense (wrong)

@bbX1138: i don't get your point, this is tic tac toe & it's supposed to be a typical game in these situations to just waste time "Kindly note that this game is a mystery/comic game".

I've created a new topic under "Games under production" which includes a demo for the game & all info about it, i'll keep it updated as well:

Well, I was just being silly really, but the two people who played that game of tic-tac-toe (aka "noughts and crosses") don't seem to have been trying to win and then gave up after about twenty seconds of play. Either it doesn't make sense or it's a brilliant bit of storytelling through background design that will only make sense in time.

I think the O's noticed they were going to lose, and then quit.  ;)

Alternatively, their strategy for the game was very, very VAGUE.

Or it was just one insane person who got shivved before he could finish.

Seem they did try a new round on the paper on the wall but didn't came far

AmOrPhIsSs

@dactylopus: couldn't agree more ;) because that's a typical tic tac toe move....even if u guys tried out the demo, the character when he interacts with this drawing on the wall he speaks out the words "Huh, typical".

AmOrPhIsSs

u should all try out the demo! =)

I think it looks good, especially the characters, but I'm not sure about the art style as a whole, it looks inconsistent in quality and style.

Not to sound too harsh but I've established a list of things that I found concerning:

- The characters look realistic while the background looks painted, it's hard on the eyes.
- Some object have the same problem, especially the calendar and the vent(?), I think it's the linework that is giving me some problems.
- Maybe he's supposed to tka e heavy deep breath from hastily waking up, but I think it looks like he's being inflated instead of inhaling. EDIT: reread your post and realized he's sleeping, this makes it look even more unnatural.
- The scene looks a bit empty, maybe add a bit of detail to it, like pipes from the sink and along the walls, maybe add more detail around the door like metal battens.
- The feet on the side sprite is a bit slanted. And the feet on the front sprite makes it look like the view is a bit from above, while the side view is leveled with her, it creates inconsistency because the perspective gets thrown off, like the front camera is higher up than the side camera.

- This is just personal preference but a bit more worn out floor and walls, I don't know how old the place is or how long the people have been there (judging by the tic-tac-toe I guess a long time?). It looks very clinical. Don't take this point too seriously, it's only my artistic opinion.

Other than that it looks really good! :D

@Frostfalk: first of all, thank you so much for your opinion & advice, really matters.
And I've actually shifted the game to another topic in the "Games under production" by this link:

http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=49008.0

Please go there, try out the demo as many things can be valid as well from there.
And waiting for your opinion afterwards!

In the demo you'll be able to see the animation of the character, objects in the scene, interactions, UI...etc.
Therefore it will give me a better feedback & will give you the chance to try it out yourself and judge upon it.
