I've modified them with Adobe Photoshop.

A modified photo of New York City. It's also my wallpaper

Looks like the Negative Image filter to me... Nothing impressive.

Yes, it is negative image. But I have also made some modification with the colour balance, and added cloud effects.

I'll try to upload a bigger size of the NYC pic.

In case the NYC pic has good resolution and quality, yeah it's pretty nice.

The portrait is less impressive; cloud filters and inverted colours are sort of amateurish IMO

No, I didn't. I've never been to NY. (But hope someday I go there and be able to take that photo.)
