Well... while my future Company partner finishes his game and my buddy Boris makes the final touches to Monkey Island 1.5, I go on, slowly but without stop, with the developement of the stories of Indy´s pupil, Arizona Scott...

Watchdya think? It is fairly uncompleted, specially the last two frames, but I just want to know your first impressions... Maybe the pants are too big? I´ve been inspired in the old trunks of the baseball players of the 30ies and the 40ies, but maybe I´ve exageratted it too much. Do U see any problem with the chapels?
Thanks, and have in mind that there are some tecnical problems that I KNOW that have to be improved (I.E. Some strange line in Ary´s bottom...)
It's not the size of the trousers that's strange, it's the comparative lack of detail. Add some creases and folds. Also put speckling on the fur collar, for the look of it.
I think he's good, especially the face. I was thinking it would be set in the 50's or 60's at first but i miss-read. Nice chest movement and stuff too. :) Good detail like the belt and such, and the hands look pretty cool too. Good shading!
Its all good.
Great as usual, Nacho: I assume you know about the arm shading disappearing in one frame and the shoe stripes doing the same, too?
His near arm/hand seems a little stiff when it reaches the further back position: maybe there should be a little wrist "snap"? But that's nitpicking, really.
Thanks to all... I haven´t noticed that the lack of detail in the pants was such important, but as this character has a vital importance, I´ll work on it to improve that, thanks Flippy.
Andrew, I was aware of the lack of shadowing in the arm in some frames, thanks.
About the hand in the back position... Do you mean that the hand advances so much to the front that to the back? I saw once a similar walkcycle and I tested it with myself and a mirror. We usually advance more the arm than putting it back, test it with you!
I think that the overall pose is acceptable, but thanks for the good crits.
And thanks Mark for the encouragement.
No, I meant that the angle of hand to arm is always the same which makes his wrists look a bit stiff. In Eric's walkcycle tut, I think the hands flap around too much, but in yours maybe too little.
whoa dude
am I the only one that thinks that this dude's legs are way too big? :)
well at least I think so
for the rest,
great work
Its great! :) the two only things that look strange to me are:
- the cap (sp?) isnt facing to the same direction as character's face, just in case its not intended : )
- i think you could improve the shading in the trousers, now it looks like they are wet up to the knee ;) . instead 'lower part dark/upper part light' you could try to think where the light would hit the legs, and what shadows would his body itself cast over the trousers.
I hope i made sense.
it looks great now, but we know you can do it better ;)
He reminds me a lot of Terry Bogart of Fatal Fury fame...

I agree about the trousers, but I don't think there's anything wrong with his cap. His face isn't moving either, so why should the cap on his head?

Most stuff has already been said; anyway, it is excellent, excellent work, I'm really looking forward to seeing more of this game, if the rest of the graphics are as good :D
the only problem i have with it is his arm in the back position
granted arms don't go back far but these arms appear to snap, they don't move at all except laterally as in side to side
a slight rotation on the back swing and i'd be happy

I have no FU**ING clue why it's putting that messed up background in there and as this is the FU**ING 20th attempt to get it removed, I'm done trying!
The animation is intact ...
As Eric said the hand's backswing is 'stunted' (frames 2,3, and 4 - the arm is in almost the same position) I didn't do anything about it 'cause this is Farl's animation and he might want it that way.
Kind of a strut ... which might be the way Arizona walks.

Woha! The spotted background is quite cool actually ^_^
Seriously, I see a lot of improvements in Jeremy´s animations. The pants are cool, just what I was looking for, and the adittional shadow in the jacket was something I actually did in the "back" frames... That colour is needed indeed because the back is too plain.
So... start converting that gif into tif files Jeremy, I´ll definitelly use them! ^_^
I hope to bring the final version tomorrow, with a pixeled chapel with makes it seem flurry... I think it will please you all, :)
darth, did you change the palette when you exported?
if you used all the same colours that Farl used for the body and then added another new colour for the background and didn't tell the palette to update then it will add this dithered approximation
I created an all new image (RGB) in photoshop and pasted in each frame. Then jumped into image ready and animated it there.
I just upgraded from photoshop 5.5. And I am giving serious consideration to going back to it. I just don't like this new version ...
Because they changed so much about it ... I'm sure I'm just missing some step they've added which they shouldn't have changed in the first place. [/bitter commentary]
Oh well ...

hehe same here darth, when i first made the switch from 5.5 to 7 i was like "SHUT UP!"
but then i got used to it and there are still things that annoy me [why change so many short cut keys?!?]
