If you could find a way to link the whole spell thing with the close up (4-5 more poses, having him coming closer), that would really rock. But anyway, I like it.

Actually, yes.  It is.  It is the element that symbolises soft snow, purity, and cleanliness.

I'm not sure why the closeup looks strange, maybe the glowing/flashing eyes just don't look like they fit.  I think it would perhaps look better if you made the staff have some sort of effects at the 'full extention' frames, and remove the closeup, but that's just me.

I'm very impressed with your pixel art, I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.
