I'd go with the first one.

The second walk cycle is a bit    disproportionate. The knees are getting lifted to high and when swinging from back to front, the legs are getting a bit to much to the sides.

So the seconds looks a little too wacky for me - but it maybe this is caused by the shading of his shoes which also looks strange  ;) Since you mirrored those legs, it seems like you have two light sources, one from the left and one from the right.
Anyhow the first walk cycle fits you character better (my opinion)

The first one is better IMO

As for movement? I prefer the style of the second one, it feels more alive. I suppose it depends on if you want a serious or a wacky game. Either way, you need to work some more on the upper body movements. I'm not sure people walk just moving their legs and fingers ;)

I'm pretty sure that was just a joke.
But just incase it wasn't -- You work on the feet first.  Once you feel they move smooth, you work on the upper body.

I like the black shoes better.  They fit your style.  I also would like the top legs better if you would just raise the placement of the knees a little.
