Title: White outline problem

Hi, I'm using Painter X to do a character sprite but I got a problem. My character has like a white-grey outline around him that I can't take out. Suggestions anyone? Thanks  ;)

Are the white edges because you cut it out?

Here's the thing, I made it with Painter X in RIFF format. However, when I try to change it to giff or bmp it shows that nasty white shit. Any ideas?
Oh, I didn't cut it out.

Make it part of the game.  The character has an "angelic" glow that always surrounds him.

Problem solved.

Seriously... this sounds like you're using alpha channel edges and then pulling the background color out when you're saving (as a GIF I'm guessing?).  You either need to save as a png with Alpha or remove the alpha entirely when saving as a gif.

Thanks Darth! By the way, do you know how can I remove the alpha channel when saving? (I don't even know what an alpha channel is, I looked in the help section of the software but it just gave me a headache :'( )

Basically an alpha channel means you have semi-transparent pixels. GIF supports fully transparent pixels but not partially transparent ones. So if you drew anything at less than 100% opacity then Painter X probably created the alpha channel automatically which is then flattened (the semi-transparent pixels made opaque) when saved as GIF.

Also if Painter X has a "paintbrush" tool that draws smooth lines instead of jagged ones, it probably uses an alpha channel to do that. The alternative in this case would be something like a "pencil" tool without the smoothing.

Another method would be to manually remove the 'glow' (making sure to the the 'pencil' tool when doing this). You said you have the original in RIFF format so the easiest way may be to just save it as a PNG instead.
