It's nice!

It's a banner image!

One thing though - there's no text. KEEP IT THAT WAY!
I know it sounds strange but It's nice of you to preserve the entire image without sticking text on it. It certainly reminds me of a western. The shadows are nice. The hill in the background is nice, and so is the cloud effect.

Afflict

A little text goes a "wrong" way!  :D

Thanks that just made me more determined to work on my game!
When I have a little more "tangible" things done I will upload into the
production thread.

ManicMatt

That's look great, but why are all the clouds on one spot?

???

stu

should that cloud really be INFORNT of the rock-hill?

Nikolas

I love it.

Just make sure that when you make the production thread or a website for the game, clicking on it will take you to the specific page of the game!

Keep it up! Great!

Phemar

Wow, looks great. I love the mountains, they're really beautiful! The character could use some work though, like try removing the double pixels!

mätzyboy

I looks quite nice, but the lighting is very inconsistant. The mountains seem to be lit from the right, while mr Cowboy is lit from the rear left. Or something like it, I guess the hat causes shadows, but I can't really make where the light comes from.

I like the colors, but I think the picture would gain from better lighting!

It looks really nice so far. The only thing that is bothering me slightly is the character. I think some ears and maybe a little hair would suit him really well. His shoulders are also a bit too large, imo. I'm also not a big fan of those crisp outlines with smudged insides.
Apart from that, I really like it. Looking forward to that game.

Afflict

There they are right up there check em out, the new pics C&C welcome

Nikolas

Put some clouds in the sky and I think you're ready.

And anyway it is just a banne,r just a signature right?

PS. I like the bad guy. For some strange reason I think he's Spanish (?) I don't like his blue beautifull eyes. Really. Other than that again fine!

scourge

That evil dude really looks evil :) very good.

Mordalles

looks awesome, afflict. i also think you should put back the clouds.

The new version of the banner looks much better, though I'm not willing to give up on the hair so easily ;). I think even with his hat on, a cowboy deserves some hair. I did a little paint-over to give you some suggestions:

- gave him some hair
-altered the eyes a bit
-added a bit of shadow to the face
-made him some smaller shoulders

I agree to the others that you should get those clouds back.

Concerning the evil guy, very...evil. I like it. Nothing to crit really.

Keep up the good work.

Afflict

Wow that does make a difference the face gets more shape and stuff...
Thanks for the reference Venus!

Oh BTW thread updated with body and stuff, the evil guy gave him a haircut
but I am thinking of putting the hair back. Check out the start potential ;)
He looks like mathew mcolony without the long hair.

Phemar

I like Venus's edit ... really good, just I think the jaw should be broader. And bring back the clouds! Please!

Venus

Somehow I like the short-haired evil guy better, though I have no idea who that actor is supposed to be.
I really like the overall style of the sprite, but the smudged inside are still bugging me. Imo, smudging or blurring the shadows makes them very undefined and therefore flat. Apart from that they really increase the amount of colours and make animation far more difficult than with less colours. I took the liberty to do another very sloppy and quick paint-over to show you what I mean:

-basically I simply reduced the colours from 120 something to 70 something
-added some more shading to the face
-altered colours of pants and boots a little to get more contrast
-changed the eyes a little

In other circumstances I would have altered the feet a little as well, but since this is a cowboy I think they fit quite nicely.

Hope that helped.

Afflict

Guess I should work on that!
Reducing colors and stuff, your prbably right about the animation going to be harder.
Dig the body paint over just the face has changed alot IMO.
