I think I will follow Neole's excellent example and start a thread for showing random art I make that is not game related. If you think I should pack up my shit and take it to an art board instead, just let me know, 'kay? :D

Anyways, here is the first pic: I made this for a roleplaying campaign I'm playing in. It's the character I'm currently playing...a 7'8'' green alien martial artist. What, you couldn't tell?
I made it using a mixture of photo manipulation and digital painting.

You really are talented, Xandom! Great artwork. Can you do a King's quest based one?

It's really great that your starting your own art thread because you just have so much talent!

That guy looks like The Hulk's son.   ;)

Neole

Oooh nice! Great texturing. Only critic I can think of is the face looks a bit flat compared to the rest of the body. Looking forward to more great art.

Hey, anyone remember me? Gawd, I've been so lazy lately. But anyways...:

First shot at one of my new roleplaying characters. This is, so to speak, a first draft at how the finished character might end up looking. It's always great putting these first thoughts on a character down on paper, to see the person for the first time. The design, of course, will probably change alot before I'll have the stamped and approved (by my self) version, but here she is...all fresh and new from my brain. Ah.
----------------------------
Since her character story is still being developed, I'll refrain from putting it all here. Suffice to say, she is a member of the peacekeeping corps sent to Europe to clean up after the Great Scourge of 2088. Having seen, vitnessed and participated in the horrors of the postapocalyptic aftermath over there, she has returned to the remnants of the States a disillusioned woman, forever tormented by the images printed on her inner eye. To keep herself from falling asleep, and thus keeping the nightmares at bay, she has taken up doing large amounts of military grade stims, a powerful artificial stimulate, emulating the effects of very high doses of coffeine with added amphetamine for added brain circulation. She has not slept a full night for almost two years now, and has grown more and more secluded since she was sent on indefinate leave from service.

I must say I feel a bit awkward n silly criticizing people far more skilled than myself but here re some minor things that I d ve made different I think:

Scaled:

(i) she looks somewhat crosseyed to me since she doesn t seem to have a close object infront of her.

(ii) this may be a style/characterissue but her left eyebrow looks a bit thick which makes her a bit masculine in that area.

(iii) I think some light from the upper right lightsource would hit the area where I ve erased some shade. I m likely wrong in the matter though.

The pic looks very nice imo btw.
Looking for a writer

Ginny

Great thread Xadhoom! I love your art, and would love to see some sketches here also.
Great pictures! :)

Loominous: Thanks for the crits, much appreciated. I'm with you on the shadows but I disagree on the eyebrow and the eye. Me, I find heavy eyebrows on women kinda sexy... As for the eye itself, I think she looks more crosseyed on the edit than the original, but hey, I guess it depends on how you look at it. Heh. Thanks for taking the time to do it, though. Much appreciated. :)
Ginny: Sketches? Well, sure, I'll upload some sketches next time, then. :)

gasking: All in all, I think I spent around two hours on the pic. And thanks. :)

Well, on to the update. On Ginny's request I am uploading a quick sketch, It is actually a pic of the same woman as in my previous upload, but her design is drastically updated. The former one was just too "nice" and clean. For those interested in that kind of info, I spent around three quarters of an hour on this.

no offence, but that looks like wolverine in a woman's body. other than that, nice work.
Albert Barillé and Hergé, we love you

Ginny

12431: True, she's got spiky hair and she smokes...but I'm guessing Wolverine ain't the only one in the world with those characteristics...heh.

Ginny: Heh, thanks. I'm colored it using my digitizer and Photoshop.

Hey y'all!
Thought I'd drop you a new image from my 3D course, just to let you know I'm not dead or anything.
We're in the progress of making a 3D animated short, and are currently in the process of making the characters. So without further ado, I give you the protagonist of my little film: A surly bachelor with bad taste in music and a f***ed up hairdo!

Made all thse shots to see if everything was working as it should. Still some minor issues to be adressed, but nothing major.

Man, what can I say? It's great! (and that's an understatement)

It looks very professional.

The only thing that bothers me a bit is this character's pinkie finger. I think his hand would look better
with a smaller pinkie. Currently it's almost as long as his middle finger.

Anyway, what program did you use if I may ask? And incidentally, do you know where to find
a good tutorial on bones animation for beginners like myself?
