This sprite was seen in the Dark Mansion thread, but I wanted to give it a new thread (I hope people don't mind my 'spamming').
I'd like some second opinions before I start animating her.

First of all, out of curiosity, what is that on the shirt supposed to be?
Second, you could leave it as is, nothing that wrong with it.
Third, slight suggestion for conisderation:
- her legs are too short for her body (I'd say her torso and head are too long for her legs, but it's easier to make her legs longer or shorten her torso about 1-2px, I think). If you shorten her torso it still won't be very realistic but you could atribute it to style decision (cause you then let the head be slightly larger to be able to express emotions)
- could use tad more contrast between colors on her pants
- width of the end of her jeans doesn't seem consistent in the side view compared to front/back view, but that's personal choice I guess
- her unpronounced hips and oppposite shoulders, make her look a tad butchy, pull in her shoulder a bit if you can
I haven't really thought what the thing on her shirt is. I was thinking it could be a symbol for her favourite band or somesuch. My main point was to have something on her shirt to separate the front from the back more clearly.
I tried to fix the issue with short legs. I think I've read somewhere that the head is usually 1/7 of the entire length of the body. I added a bit to the head through hair and tried to have a little room to animate the face (though still not much).
Added contrast to the pants, fixed pant sleeves to be more consistent.
I tried to give her a bit more "pronounced hips" aka. "ass", but if I do it symmetrically, I end up having to add 2 pixels and suddenly she has a HUGE ass, or either I think she looks a little broken.

As an added bonus I added some detail to the shirt as well as her shoes. Fun fact: this is the first female character I've ever drawn!
Added a portrait of her face. She is supposed to be around 19 years old, and should have a fairly neutral look on her face.

The new version looks better.
From a distance I get what you're trying to do with the t-shirt, but to me in original size it just looks like her waist is doing something freaky and distracts from her outline. I really don't know how to fix it, if you remove it, the shirt will be too simple but as is, I think it's looking wrong.
The portrait face is off by character - you've drawn a sort of "rock chick" but wouldn't she wear a bit of make-up like say smokey eyes, depends on how "rock" she is though I guess.
My suggestion for the portrait (no make-up), a bit of anatomy modifications, she might look a bit older in my version though:
(http://www.whamgames.com/images/mansion/portrait_ntrl.png) (http://i.imgur.com/hLqTA.png)
- I covered a bit of her face with her hair and moved eyes lower, also made the chin a bit more rounded
EDIT: sorry, image host is acting up

I made the shading a lot more bold, for instance the shadow under the chin. After that I replaced the eyes with the shadows you see now, because at this resolution I don't think you'd really see the whites all too clearly. I then took my new darker shade from the neck and reshaded most of the face, in line with how I'd changed the neck. I also changed her shirt but the lighting I went for is really weird and unrealistic, her head should cast more of a shadow. But in general a little pool of light on a torso usually looks pretty good. I went for standard cartoon horizonal hair-highlights to make her hair stand out (two extra light shades) and I added a darker shade to give it some depth. Hope this gives you some ideas. She looks a bit older than 19 in my edit, which I think could be helped by removing some of my shading and detailing, but there's probably a happy medium.
Now that I see Flibble's edit, I have to agree that the eye whites make her look too scared, and that the shadow eyes work better. I also think the shirt looks a little nicer, as now that I look at it with fresher eyes, my version seems to be holding her hands in front of her.
The fairly heavyhanded shading makes her look older in my opinion, so I'll probably decrease that a bit, or at least fiddle around with it.
I'm at work now, but I'll try to get a new edit out some time this evening, along with an edited shirt symbol.
In my PO I actually addressed quite a lot of things anian already mentioned.
- she is far too thin
- her arms are too long
- her midrift is too long
- I added more contrats to the face/ altert her features
- making the arms angle out towards the hips, and drawing the legs slightly knock-kneed gives a more feminin stance.
- could of course be a personal preference, but I think characters with very low resolution look good with a hight of 6 - 6 1/2 heads.
I hope this didn't deviate too much from what you intended the character to be, and that it gives you some ideas.
@Mad
That actually looks very nice, although it gives the character a bit of a chubby look, whereas I was aiming for a slender and fairly tall girl. I will make another edit and try to change the arms and legs a bit more, as well as try to incorporate your style for shading the breasts, which is far superior to my original. Your face has also given me some ideas, which I will try to incorporate as well.

- she is far too thin
People are different. Wham's sprite is of a thin person (though admittedly she looks more narrow in the front and back views than in the side views), your version is more full-figured, maybe even slightly chubby.
Before you do anything else, work on the pose. She's standing *very* straight which looks unnatural. Mad's edit goes some way to address this but not far enough.
Stand up and, without making any conscious effort at posing, consider the following:
1. Where your arms are in relation to your body - how close to your sides?
2. Are both of your legs completely straight?
3. Are you feet sticking out at 90 degrees to your legs?
Mad's face edit is worth taking into consideration since the higher contrast drastically improves the features.

I agree. It looks like a completely different person. The chest looks much better though.
Here's my shot:

Tried to address anatomy and contrast without changing too much.
As was said, the shoulder hip ratio suggested a dude; conflicting info resulted in a weirdly androgynous look.
She should still count as thin now.

Quite right! I should maybe have said gangly. But, because of the long torso and arms, Overall she is a bit out of proportion, even for a thin girl.
Considering what you said, I just had to have another go:
Tried to make may version thinner, but she still ended up quite curvy.
The right stance is supposed to convey sassiness, and the stances in the middle shyness, although they rather look as though she desperately needs a wee!
@WHAM: Even if it's all in vain, because she's too far removed from what you want, I still killed some time and had some very needed practise at low-res pixelling ;)
Just wanted to post once more: Awesome material, as always! I'll definitely be able to use a lot of the stuff shown here to create a final edit of her. Can't wait to get home from work (about 2 hours)!
I think I can use Mad's latest edits in some of her animations, so I think your effort will not go to waste in this project.
Looking back to analyze my first attempt: I think my biggest mistake was making her face about 5 pixels wide instead of 6 like in everyone else's edits, and making her legs and body too symmetrical, making her look stiff and straight, and making her legs hard to get to align nicely.
The lastest edit is Erin Robinson :=
Yeah, Mad's far right version is hot...
...wait, Bucket already said that. ;D
Did a new edit:

Changed the stance a bit, tweaked her length. Basically just ripped off Mad's edit with slight changes.
Simplified the wrinkles and shading of her pants to make her easier to animate cleanly.
Changed the logo on the shirt. Gave her green eyes.
Adjusted the old side views to better fit the new front view.
Opinions? Is she pretty enough to start animating?
I'll take a look at her face portrait later today.
Much better, a few points left:
-shoes say 3/4 but torso & head are seen from the side
-eyes are too far up
-chin/neck looks weird
Really quick fix:

Thanks Khris! :D
The design of the top looks a little weird. Usually the logo goes over the chest, not the midriff.
Usually, yes. Not in this one, though. Our little lady doesn't want to give men that excuse to stare at her -ehm- titties, so she selects her shirt appropriately. ;)
She prefers people to ogle her stomach? Is this going to be a puzzle element?
It may have just become a running joke. We'll have to see...
Just wanted to show you guys what I've done with the sprites so far:
Going to try to do front and back tomorrow. Left is pretty much just a mirrored right with the wristband removed, and the shirt logo slightly changed.
