I have a dialup connection and i HATE streaming content, that gives NO option for download. Even if I was to have a copy on my hard drive what would it hurt, most of the content distributed this way are non commercial products or media and are created for free entertainment. The problem I currently have is I can't even view them becuase the stream stops 1/10th of the way in.

Is there a way to download the video files off of You Tube, Atom Films etc??

I'm serious this is highly ridiculous that this sort of content should be withheld in this manner, its ludicrous.

Since they're embedded swfs, you are downloading them rather than streaming, it's jsut that swfs can be opened before the entire file is completed.

And I can't say I can get angry at a company providing free content for "witholding" that content.

I seem to remember there is something that will work with Firefox to let you download the stuff off of YouTube and other similar websites. I used to have it, but never used it.

You need something that can view FLV files for this to be any help...

The best one of those things would be VLC media player, which is a great backup player for all formats.

another vote for VLC, it's played everything I ever tried playing with it.

media player classic for the win, i like the easy resizing of videos and stuff :)

anyway, get that extension for firefox, it enables you to download the .flv files directly off the page.

Google Video has a download option (even a PSP MP4 option!), so I don't see why YouTube couldn't have the same Kind of thing. :-\
