Broadband - DSL - 512Kbs. Measured at Max download=900kbps and max u/l @ 384kbps.

As I don't feel that I need to boast about my broadband to make up for deficiencies elsewhere, I'll just say that I've got a 2400 bps modem.
I just got hooked with up adsl or something like that. It's supposedly 650 mg download and like 250 upload, but when I tested it was only at 538/230...Good times though...

My University has an awesome super-fast network that connects me at the fastest speed that the internet and my hardware will allow me, which is never over 1,000kbs. They have a 10gbs backbone though.
At my Father's I get around 500kbs max.
At my Mom's (in a town of 800 people haha) the DSL line gets 100kbs max. We used to only have dial-up there, but DSL had been available since 2000. Demand that your ISP's get with the times!
I have cable, I think it's a 10 Mbit line but that information is hard to find on the website, even in the FAQ's under speed. It just says it uses the maximum speed possible.
I get a 3GB a month limit anyway, but I just got an email today saying happy christmas and get 6GB for the rest of Dec, then 6GB in Jan, and 6GB in Feb from my ISP (which is for everyone not just me)
18 months ago there was no limit and for 2 years I got used to downlaoding movies and large files, probably atleast 10GB per month, plus I used to get up to 1000kb/s eg. d/l a 60 Megabyte game in 1 minute
now I get generally around 200kb/s sometimes more sometimes less depending on sites, time of day. It also makes a difference how close your house is to the nearest exchange.
So it now costs more to get slower speed, monthly limit of downloads (if you exceed you get capped to the speed of a 28.8 modem until the next month)
It became popular so they fuck it up for everyone to cash in.
I never understand the speed stuff cause it never seems to make sense,
eg. 1632 Kbps or 200 Kbytes per second.
they are both the same speed but whats the difference between Kbps and Kbytes per second (I always though that Kbps was Kbytes per second, but obviously not and is just there to confuse people into thinking they have faster connections [or slower]. I guess the difference is bits or bytes

edit: I'm not sure where this site is hosted but probably in Australia, I remember there was a thread somewhere on this forum that had links to other speed tests, I'm sure someone can post a few different locations.
I took that test too and embarressed by the results. I got dailup and to top it off, I live way out in the vast hillsides of Hickville. Lets just say it came out somewhere around 28.8 Kbps on the chart. *goes to hide in a hole*

{PS. I's all about your server speed. 10Mb/s doesn't mean you can upload 10Mb/s if the server you're connected to is only giving you 40kb/s.

I get 55Kib/s download and 15Kib/s upload.

Pain indeed. That's why I say "the highest download speed I've seen is 800k/s" if somebody asks me how fast a connection I'm on.
And now someone did.
I've downloaded at 800k/s. Which means it'd take me 4.5 seconds to download the latest version of AGS.
Of course, none of this is true now that I'm home for Christmas. Yay for 64k isdn.

I just went to DSL from cable. Although there is a huge change, I'm not concerned. I don't download anything over 100MB anyway. The only reason most people need a connection much faster than mine is to pirate movies/videos. I can still listen to music, watch trailers, and download AGS in a minute or two. That's fine with me.
The only reason I switched was cost. DSL is half the price of Cable here. For the most part I can do just as much with it.
It's not the size that matters. It's how you use it. ;D

Home for winter, no speedy university connection. At the moment that Speedtest page says: "106.1 Kbps or 13 Kbytes per second."
I dig the speedy connections. In the Marine Corps we had a T1-line. That was fairly sweet. However, even using slow-ass DSL at home, I've yet to find many sites that allow me to download at max speed. With Kazaa, the highest I ever get is around 50k/s and that's extremely rare. If I use a download-assistant program, throw in about 5 mirrors for a file (using Getright or something), I still never manage much over 130 k/s. Myself, I'm content if a file transfer stays above 10/second.
