sorry i replied a bit late, to everyone who said what the hell is the "original" homer simpson, it is the Homer in the first series, when he talks in a completely different voice. Indeed, he is tributed to in Treehouse of Horror 13, the first story 'Send in the Clones' (which incidently also had a Family Guy tribute), there are a bunch of Homer Clones, and they all look slightly different from the presentday Homer. Then, you see the "original" homer. Sorry about any confusion.
Oh, BTW, my favourite FG quotes.

Peter:'Holy Crip he's a crapple!'

and in the same episode,

The Grinch:'You think all is good, you think all is well,
well kiss my green ass, i'll see you in hell!'

Stewie: 'Oh, for god's sake, HE'S WEARING A WIRE!'
Mobsters: 'Hey, dis guy's wearin' a wire'
(gunshots)
Stewie: 'Ahh, night Brian'

Stripper on TV: 'Do you want to see more?'
Peter: ... yes please....
Stripper on TV: ' Then you'll have to order my next video.'

Peter: ' oh it's simple. They live in a crappy neighbourhood'.
Chris: ' The Bradys?'
Peter: 'Oh yeah, they got gangsters, drug dealers, murderers. See, the worst we got is the uh... Jehovah's Witnesses'
Jehova's Witness: 'Y'all want some pancakes?'
Peter: 'No thank you'.

That treehouse of horror was the absolute worst episode I ever saw of the Simpsons. Since then it's become merely boring, as opposed to downright horrible. But no show lasts forever, sometimes it's best to let things die.

I'm glad Futurama ended when it did. I thought the last season was rather bad. Wasn't far from reaching the same low as The Simpsons.

Futurama has some of the best quotes ever.

FARNSWORTH'S CLONE - "I hear alcohol makes you stupid"
FRY - "No i'm... doesnt?!"

then almost anything said by Zap Branigan

Ball Emporer - "We demand bouncing, followed by rolling, followed by bouncing of a second kind"

Futurama was pure gold from episode 1 - 4

Family guy has lots of good quotes, some funnies have been posted.

I'm glad Futurama ended when it did. I thought the last season was rather bad. Wasn't far from reaching the same low as The Simpsons.

I liked the last series of Futurama, despite the fact that it was starting to take a different direction of sorts. A few of the later episodes focused on tieing up some loose ends (Leela's parents, the Fry/Nibbler storyline) and also got some quite emotional episodes in there ("The Sting"? That one with Fry's dog?).

They tried to be a bit clever at parts, but for the most part they actually succeeded in this. I didn't like some of the later episodes on first viewing, but watching them again recently I've decided while they aren't out & out hilarious, they're still good for different reasons.

In the end, I just viewed the show as a love story. It's not as obvious as most out there, but perhaps that's why I like it. It's quite subtle in this area, for the most part.

But that said, I'm glad it ended when it did. They got a chance to "finish" it properly, without a sudden decline, which would have ruined the whole thing for me.

Oh, and Family Guy CAN be awesome. And usually is.

I REALLY want to like Family Guy... But it mocks certain things that I really don't enjoy having made a mockery of.

It CAN be funny, but it's not something I'd watch all the time and obsess over. As for Futurama... I really enjoyed the series.. But The Simpsons has turned from genius, family comedy to random sex jokes and horrendously played absurdities.

I don't know, it seems more like the entire plotline is detiriorating in every way.  The random sex jokes used to just be "Mayor Quimby & The Squeaky Bimbo", but have turned into "Homer's a horny fatload".  Whenever Marge and Homer had a fight, Homer realized he did something wrong.  He confronted marge and took care of things, and (in some cases) saved Marge from herself. Even though he was childish then, it was in an innocent way.  He never meant malevolence towards others, and has helped out random extra characters more times than I could count.  Bart and Lisa were a team together in many episodes, and helped each other many times.  However after that restraining order episode their relationship was more driven by anger.  And the plotlines for the episodes?  They would be fine... if not for the character change in the family.  The show is still funny at some points, but not nearly as much as other seasions.

EDIT:  I feel that I should point out that when a show like the simpsons meets such a high peak of glory (and loses they're good writers) they have a choice of either going out with a bang, getting one final burst of money, or siphoning all the money out of it they can as the plot deteriorates and the whole thing plops out of existance.

EDIT2: how do you spell "siphon"?

I'm not gonna get too deeply involved in this, but Farlander... after reading what you've written here, I have to say that I think you've completely and utterly missed the whole point of the Simpsons.

I don't think the current seasons are as good as the old stuff, but everytime I find myself complaining about them, I find myself watching one and cracking up. There's STILL a lot of gold in the Simpsons even today.

I better not see anyone talk shit about Futurama though. There'll be corpses everywhere.

PsychicHeart

heh, futurama.

Farnsworth: Good news, you will be involved in a highly controversial mission.
Fry: Controversial?
Farnsworth: oh, my no.

Zoidberg: Well, if you'll excuse me i see some ravioli with only two footprints on it.
(Bender walks past Zoidberg and "Splat!" is heard)
Zoidberg: Three.

Fry: My friends... my family... my girlfriend... they're all gone...... WOOHOO!

Ok Kinoko, ok... Maybe you are right, you know me better than myself and I love the Simpsons...  :P

What the hell have you read? I wrote that I don't like them.

Did I wrote they're bad? NO. I told I don't like them.

Please, this is exausting. I don't want to enter in such a pointless discussion. This is like discussing if strawberries are good or not. Maybe 99% of the people like them, but if I don't like them,  and I won't ever do, no matter what those 99% say.

So, let's shut up,  ;) You are not right. Simpsons are not good. I am not right. Simpsons are not bad. It is just up to anybody. If they like them, they're good, if they don't, they aren't.

1.  The Simpsons has outlived it's death sentence (not to say it's bad, it's just old)
2.  Futurama SHOULD have been given a better chance.
3.  Though Family Guy is vulgar, it IS hilarious if you're not an extremely conservative person who takes offense very easily.
4.  WTF is wrong with you people?  MONTY PYTHON  hahahahahahahahahahahahaaaa!!!

Actually, getting back on topic...

(Monorail Episode)

Homer: Son, are we going to die here?
Bart: Yep. But at least we'll take a lot of innocent people with us...

The thing is to watch the Simpsons on the British Channel 4, as they only have up to... I'd say 10th series, which is all the good stuff. A lack of an evil, EVIL Sky box ( *OPINION ALERT!* So said as every show I love go's off to sky and get's eaten up and spat out by shoddy ratings because everyones watching the stupid, stupid american comedies and other rubbish. There is no such thing as a decent american show in my eyes... grrrrrrr.)

EDIT: For all US readers,  no offence ment. (Also, why is there a US equivalent of every Reality show? Is it because Americans are so much funnier to watch on British TV? - Awnser, yes. Nothing like "Chef Ramsey" insulting people anyway. It's just funnier in the US...)

Err... right... the saddest thing is, though, that you're right.  There's a few things you can stand to watch here in america, and the rest is just ratshit on a stick.

Even if I've never actually seen a new "stupid, stupid american comedy" in years.

Makes me sad  :'(

The sad thing is actually people buy Sky boxes. I have a perfectly happy time with a TV and a freeview box.  ;)

edit: Maybe listening to American Idiot by Green Day isn't the best song to listen to at this moment... sheer coincidence, honest  :)

edit2: And freeview is about a gazzilion times cheaper as well!

a few more quotes:

"Lou: Y'know i went to the McDonalds in Shelbyville last night.
Wiggum: The Mcwhat?
Lou: McDonalds. Yeah, i never heard of it either, but apparently they have 2000 locations in this state alone.
Eddie: Must've sprung up overnight.
Lou: But see, it's the little differences you notice.
Wiggum: How so?
Lou: Well, at McDonalads you can get a Krustyburger with Cheese, but they don't call it that.
Wiggum: Get out. Well, what do they call it?
Lou: Quarter Pounder with Cheese.
Wiggum: Quarter Pounder with Cheese?! Well, i can picture the cheese but... do they have Krusty Partly Gelatinated Gum-based Beverages?
Lou: Yep. Call 'em "shakes".
Eddie: Shakes. Hmph. Don't know what your getting."

"Bart:Dear lord,
please bless Lisa, and Maggie, and Homer, and Mum, and please God, kill Sideshow Bob.
Marge: Gasp! Bart, you can't ask God to kill Sideshow Bob.
Homer: Yeah, you do your own dirty work".

"Homer: That's it Marge. He knows the whole hotdog song. Go ahead, sleep with him. I'll just take this lock of your hair to remember me by. It's only you and me now lock of hair."

Sorry to bring this back, but I felt it was unnecessary to start a new Simpsons thread for this.

In Spain, from the very first chapter where Secondary Bob appears, it is dubbed by the actor who puts the voice on Frashier Crane. Some years after, the series of Fashier started, so, the actor's voice became popular. He was not very popular in Cheers.

Well... in one chapter, Bob's bro appears, and it is obviously a cameo towards Frashier's series. In Spain, they used the voice of the actor who dubbs (sp?) Niles Crane for making the chapter more enjoyable. The coincidence (That the actor who was going to become notorious making the voice of Frashier, performanced from the beginning the voice of Bob) is lovely.

But, my question is... Was Kesley Grammer the voice of Bob in the United States? Was it just from certain season? Is he the voice actor just for the chapter with his brother? Or does the actor who performance Bob sound simillar to Kesley Grammer, and that's used in that chapter as an in-joke?

Thanks. ^_^.
