Just wanted to ask, I know you're a Marillion-APP geek... So the lyrics are very much APP influenced, obviously, and as you said at the site there. And then Marillion can be heard clearly, I wanted to know if you aknowledged that while writing or if it just came along the way and you noticed it after composing?

Also, I've been listening to this a lot and like it ever more. Even played some for my brother and he said the singing is great!

The lyrics, my friend, were written well before rock even existed.. and hence I wouldn't say they are influenced by APP in any way.
I would say I was influenced throughout the writing process, sure - for instance, I wanted a "Dream within a dream"-like instrumental to open the album, and to have some Marillion-like instrumentals within the other songs. Other than that, what most influenced me was the entity of the Marillion albums, and I strived for it in my work as well.
That being said, being influenced doesn't mean copying anyone and I believe I have built my own style upon the influences.
It's also nice to hear good words about my singing, since I sang two of the songs with a sore throat and a damn cold. :)

Tuomas

yeah, I meant the singing being very much like APP, not the lyrics. And yeah, just wanted to know of the process of making this.

Since you sequence the drums, invest - or steal - some sort of drumset where the snare has good different velocities for snare rolls. The one's on the album are very tacky right now. Or just avoid snare runs in favour of full-tom fills instead.

I must admit, drums are my weak spot... I had quite some trouble doing the drums for the album, and n3tgraph and Petteri helped me on some occasions.
As for the samples themselves, I changed the ones I am using already, just wanted to finish the album with consistent drum samples.

Vel, after listening I have to say this was an enjoyable album. The music was captivating & avery good and the lyrics were sincere & well written. I didn't understand them (naturally) at first but after seeing the poems site I was able to appreciate them far more. Overall I'd say you've outdone yourself, so well done!! The only thing I would say is that I personally don't enjoy music which takes me on a ride through depression, and a lot of these songs sound very sad and make me want to commit suicide. Therefore it wouldn't be something I'd chose to listen too. But because you've pointed it out, and it's you, I've been able to enjoy it. I'll definitely have a listen to any future works :)

Hey m0ds, I'm really glad you took the time to listen to it and appreciated it!
Actually, a friend of mine and I were talking a while ago and I said there could be no higher recognition of my music than someone committing suicide because of it. Joke aside, what you said is perhaps the half-highest recognition I've had. :)
Again, thanks for listening and enjoying the album even if it was not quite your cup of tea.
