Title: 7 days a vailable?
Post by: Captain Mostly on Mon 11/04/2005 14:38:26
I downloaded 5 days ages ago, but when I come to get 7 days off of the underdogs, it keeps telling me there's an error. Does anyone else find this, or is my internet-security being too secure?

I know you can buy it off of Ben direct, and I may be able to grudgingly concede that the first game is one of the best made AGS games I've ever played (even though there's no explanation of how any of the bodies got under the floors) but I'm not coughing 5 dollers into Yahtzee's paw for the privalage of the "special edition"... Outtakes and an "Author's" commentar? why isn't there a "being sick" emoticon here?

If you're ever looking for a game, chances are Roger has it in IRC (#ags on quakenet), I don't know where to get it over http if the underdogs won't work.

If you don't need the special edition, you can just download the normal version from yahtzee's site - or did I understand you wrong?

EDIT: Sorry, Yahtzee's site just links to the underdogs - my fault

What's wrong with the ending? Haven't you always wanted to go into space for some reason?

Well I don't want to lay into it TOO much for fear of being accused of Yahtzee bashing, but in comparison to the (albeit melodramatic) ending of 5 days, the end of 7 days is something of a damp squib. Mind you, it's a lot better than the end of RL&BAT, so I guess I should put a lid on it.

hehe I agree, the ending the 7das was good until the second ending popped up for no reason

and on the subject of the ending on RL&BAT I must ask for a walkthrough because the one on adventuregamers says to do something that doesn't work...

Stupid AGA

The twist was hinted at early in the game (as pointed out by Yahtzee on the Authors Commentary on the SE), thus was planned from the beginning.

It might still not be a very good ending, but personally I don't mind it. Classic horror. Same with the last few frames. And many other parts of it.

I didn't say it wasn't planned, but in my opinion there wasn't much need for it.

Let's play devil's advocate:

Just because it was hinted at during the game doesn't mean the final twist was "planned"... Someone can still get to the end of a game, not know how to finish it satisfactorially and tag on a not-very-convincing twist, then go back through the code and drop a "hint" here and there so as to make it look like a clever decision... Or just re-enterpret something that was said earlier and claim it was meant as a hint...

But of course, I think that the aparent level of planning throughout most of the game suggests it WAS meant to be there from the start, it just didn't work.

As for the walkthrough for RL&BAT, it was ME that wrote that!! You can't blame AGA for it. Although you CAN blame him for his unfairly sneery review of the game.

I'll let you know what to do if you ask me though!

What he said.

And I'm just as entitled to hate it as you people are to like it!

I didn't say I hated 7 days a stranger! I think it's brilliant!
