How rumours are created...

That latest post about the time traveller has made me thinking in how the rumours are created. I´ve post something about it before, you can read it again. I wish to do an experiment, but I´d need your collaboration...

It is easy... Let´s create a rumour... And here it is:

As you can remember... A lot  has been told about the simbology of the new freedom building (I.E. 1,776 feet=1,776, the year of the U.S.A. Independence, the slight shape of the liberty statue...). Well, I bring to you another simbology. The construction is, in fact, a huge an international sign of a hand making "FUCK YOU!!!1"

We can spread the rumour that the arquitect is trying to send a giant message to Bin Laden, which is "FUCK YOU!!!"

Well... Just that... remember to spread the rumour if you have any ocassion, let´s see what happen. Maybe it will reach nowhere, but we can probably see soon one of that webpages which publish strange stuff that the shape of the building is a big hand making "FUCK YOU".

It should be fucking funny, IMO, to see a nice diagram of the hand photoshopped over Lower Manhattan, or people discussing if this is real or fake. And it would have been created in AGS.  ;D

In fact... I am starting to see that the construction in fact reminds the hand...  ???  :-X

I think somebody might have beaten you to this rumor!  I remember hearing about this almost 2 years ago!  My dad has a picture of it hangin' in his office actually.

I'll see if I can get a picture of it to post here!

I personally think it would be funny ... but they (the powers that be) would never admit to doing that intentionally.  Though perhaps the architect might have had that in mind!

How about we just spread the rumor that "freedom building" is the UGLIEST goddamned building design anyone has ever come up with, and a giant eyesore meant to convince the rest of the world the US doesn't know anything about honor or beauty. Frankly, if I were a pilot, I'd do whatever I could to destroy that new mortar monstrocity and spare the US any further humiliation.

Crap this building, the project that got the second place was from a Uruguayan architect and it didn't win because he didn't put enough money. :P
Pst, it's not fair, so, this building could really look as a giant FUCK YOU sign if you have enough imagination. ;D

Darth Mandarb...  :'(

We gotta think in a new rumour, now...

My apologizes, but I thought it was original  :). Well... I should have supposed that the shape is so evident that somebody might think in that before.

How 'bout this:

Deep in the bowels of the 'middle finger' lies a dark and sinister dungeon where they're going to imprison Bin Laden when(if) they [ever] catch him.  It's full of evil torture devices designed to cause the maximum amount of pain while keeping the person alive and in terrible agony.

Ooooh ... me likey!!!

Hey, it could be true.

You just never know.

It probably was an intentional selection to create a subconcious meaning but I bet you could find pleanty of examples of buildings that look like what ever you like.

Most buildings are quite phallic, but there is less style these days in almost all buildings, they just go straight up, pretty bland on the outside, some fancy windows. Sure they have probably got some cool features and use a lot of technology but they are definately not as visually appealing as the old masterpiece artworks of days gone by.

check out this modern masterpiece in Las Naranjas home town

now tell me the guy who thought of that didn't wake up one morning, look down and say "Ah, great idea"

My uncle is an architect and has designed some buildings in Sydney, but he's been involved in one of the most interesting pieces of art in Melbourne Australia. "Federation Square" I've only seen pictures but it's "out there" in terms of design. He was Project Director, and it's the new Centrepiece of Melbourne.

Some people say it looks really ugly, but it's all about taste I guess, At least they took a chance and made something different, here's a pic of part of it.

if any one is interested you can check out the site

http://www.federationsquare.com.au/

and should I go with the white, the off white, the bone, the ivory or the beige? Canary yellow indeed

sorry, in joke

Nacho

Yup, it is all about taste... I like it, it remind me a lot the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, covered in titanium.

Yeah!  The New York attitude in a nutshell!

I love this city. :-D

I love federation sqaure...... I've been there about six times in the last month or so, and every time I get goosebumps!!

I like the torture chamber idea. It's the sort of thing Bush WOULD do if he could. People are also dumb enough to believe it......
