Title: A mouse or short shorts?
Post by: Tuomas on Fri 06/06/2008 13:32:53
So summer's here \:D/ One top hot day after another. And it's time to dig out all the t-shirts from the closet.

So I realised, it's summer, I no longer need to study. All my friends are working and I have more than enough free time for myself. So I thought, hey, I might play MI 1-2 again, and I might just pick up BG2 again since I never finished it or even got that far. It seems as if gaming got boring for me, or perhaps too time consuming. Anyway, now I would have time. But, for the past, several months, I've only been using my Wacom pen as a mouse, giving headache to people trying to use my internet. My PS2 thing blew up at some point making my mouse unusable.

Then I took a long look in my wardrobe (I know What I Like) and it aint getting better along the years. My trousers are long and hot, and it's +25 degrees outside. I'd really need something shorter to show my hairy feet around. I was looking for some yesterday while clothshopping with my girlfriend, and realised they're pretty much the same pricerange as a USB mouse.

So the question is, will I ever enjoy playing BG2 or any early classics with long jeans on, or will I have to buy new clothes and try playing this stuff with a pen, which apparently doesn't work so well with DOSBox, haven't tried with BG2 yet though. Both are around 25 € and I haven't been paid yet, so that's pretty much all that I can put in for myself this month :( Vous recommendez? I'm in trouble again...

Aaa, Existential Questions xD.

What is BG2?

You can not afford in a weeks or two the money of a mouse/shorts to buy the other things? xD

I don't work but I spent three or four days at week the money to buy two usb mouses in beer and china-like restaurants xD

Baldur's Gate 2  :-[

Yeah, you know, I currently live on social security because my job pays only when I'm done, so in august I'll have enough money for the rest of the year. but 300 € per month isn't so much when you pay 223,96 rent.

Hmmmm.

I can imagine you could get away with playing BG2 with a tablet - you can pause the combat easily enough to issue the commands to the players.

However if you find that you cannot possibly do this with a tablet and MUST have a mouse to play the game, I'd get a mouse.

You could check out a second hand store and get cheaper shorts from there. My brother and I have both purchased clothes in this manner and to my knowledge nobody has ever even commented.

Listen to Ben. My wife just bought me a perfectly good pair of shorts from a second hand shop for 1 euro. They don't need to be expensive, unless you're a sucker for brand names. You could also see if a second hand store (or a recycling center) have any old mice while you're there. Our local recycling center sells used/refurbished computer peripherals for extremely low prices. 17" crt monitors for 5-10 euros, mice and keyboards for maybe 2-5 euros etc. They might not be great, but they work.

Oh, if you have a lot of gamer friends, ask around. They seem to be upgrading their weaponry (mice) all the time, so maybe one of them can spare one of their old, less accurate pointing devices.

By the shorts and switch your wacom to mouse mode, that's what I do when I play my old adventure games, except I already have shorts, so I don't need to buy any.

Was I the only one who was afraid this post was going to be about exposure of one's mouse, due to short shorts???? :/

Don't you have any nerdy friends who could donate you a mouse? I mean I have like 5 old mouses laying around my house and I'm not even that nerdy.

Ok, I am :P
