I've started to write a novel. It's just in it's beggining with 3 scenes and a raw sketch of the plot but I thought about posting it here in a series as it develops because: 1. I don't want to lose motivation which happened few times. 2. I'd like someone to read it and say what he/she thinks.
The novel is an s-f about a group of explorers from the alien race of Akshri. They are attacked and imprisoned by a human general on the first contact at the planet of Nehra/Alpha 1 (Akshri/Human name) and the war between to races is at stake.
Would anyone care to read?

sure.

1. is it polish?
2. is it long?
3. is it a rip-off?

Blade

1. It WILL be English - fine exercise for my lanuage skills
2. It may be long - depends on what I invent
3. I was not thinking of any particular source from which I could rip-off so I think I'm going fairly original - but if it gets here - you'll see for yourself.

Thanks for reply. I'll get going with translations of what I've got.

Are you going to post it here chapter by chapter? Because it could take a year to finish a good novel.. Make a short story instead. They'r always fun to read.

I don't see any reasons why you shouldn't. It's great exercise.

I wrote my first novel-sized kind of text when I was about 17-18. It was a pompous space-epos, and it was completely crap, but at least I carried through with a huge project. It was around 100000 words, and took about a year to complete. Quantity before quality, in other words :)

Interestingly, my second novel came out even worse, albeit not that long. My third attempt never got completed, I only got halfway through.

I've recently begun to write on a new novel, and now I've planned to utilise all the knowledge and the experience my previous attempts have given me.

So, to summarize; sure, write all you can. Don't think it will turn out a bestseller. See it as an exercise, use it to recieve feedback and c&c from friends and family.

Heres an idea to chew on. Write your novel  then paste it page by page into ags. Seriously people ags is like a powerpoint presentation

A novel, however, isn't a powerpoint presentation.
Who would've thought, eh?

Well, at the point of how to present it - that's the difficulty. I'd appreciate any suggestions that sound serious. I thought about posting, but that may not be the best idea - though probably this way more people would read it and comment and that's what I want, comments.
I don't think I'm gonna produce a bestseller. I just want to show my writing to someone. Not much use from writing something and putting it in a drawer, never showing anyone. That's why I lose motivation to write.

EDIT: I've just seen "Air Hex" thread. I think I'm gonna pdf my writing like it's done there. Won't eat the bandwidth. Or maybe I'll stick to the idea of an AGS presentation.
