You army boys try everthing to get out of there, don't you.
50 days is still a long way to go.
And remember what happenen to Lt. Blake in M*A*S*H*...

How long does a tour take anyway.

Nice to see a post from you Alynn, I guess you found a way around that stupid "Websense" blockers there?

Hoping you're hanging in there and please do your best to stay safe (which I guess is very hard thing to do sometimes considering where your at and the situation).

Take care, and of course, as soon as the hand heals up, we expect you to begin work right away on your gameÃ,  ;)

Surely broke your hand not on purpose, Klinger? :P

But seriously, stay safe. I wish you good luck, both with Iraq and your game.
Studies show that 50% of the people do not know they form half of the society.

Alynn,

I was hoping you could tell me what it is like there? What are you doing?
How do you feel about being there?
Thank you for your courage whether you want to be there or not.
I love you.

Ishmael

A YEAR? Wow... time really passes fast...

I still remember how you barged in with your 100x100 avatar :P
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

<Calin> Ishmael looks awesome all the time

I still have it too!

Actually I have a new avatar which stemmed from my now named Yellow Eyed Studio Logo.. have to upload it to a server when I get home...

Actually its been (or will be) 10 months... I came out 2 monts late with this unit...

WANDERLADY LOVES ME!

Its nice to be loved...  Anyway its fairly hot even this late in the year, but rainy season is on its way.. so its been rainy on a few days... Since Ramadan started we get hit by mortars daily to twice a day...

What I do for the army is fix hardware and software issues with the army supply software...

about how I feel about being here... that is a simple question with a highly complex answer...

I am here because I raised my hand, and swore to do as the officers appointed over me, and the president of the United States says to do... I am here because I made a concious choice to serve my country, and my country needs me here. For that I am indifferent...

I talk nearly daily to the local nationals (Iraqi private citizens) that work for us doing everything from the electrical work, the plumbing (which is funny cuz the plumbers look like Mario and Luigi, in fact thats what the answer too cuz their names are difficult for us to pronounce)... to cleaning the showers and the gardening... meeting these guys who are different than us... but at the same time just want to make ends meet and provide for their wives (yup many have more than one) and children... We pay them 5 bucks a day... which may seem like very little, but to give you an idea, the average electric bill per mponth for them is 1 dollar.... they get paid very well, and in fact many of them took on their first, second and third wife since they started working for us... they are the fat cats in the community, cuz they get paid well... I'm here for them, that just want a better life for them and their families, and that makes me feel liek I am making a difference...

However, I am away from everyoen I love and loves me, I miss my wife dearly and my new born son (good news is I will be home for his first christmas)... even though I serve to protect those that cant protect themselves, like my wife and kids... I miss them, and hate being away fromthem... that makes me sad...

So that gives you an idea... there is more to it, but nothing I can really write, words wont do it justice, and I dont belive the words for it exist... Its one of those things that only those that have been there can understand...

Sam.

I mumember you! hows it going out there? I hope you come back safe and look after yourself. glad to hear you'll be home for christmas. hope to hear from you soon.
Bye bye thankyou I love you.
