Hi folks, another strange request moving in.
There are things that you always wanted to have, you know. And I always wanted to have a narrow leather 80s tie. You know, like this (http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w17/steven-spielberg/tie.jpg) and this (http://fredriksperspektiv.blogg.se/images/2010/05ltmartincastillory9_100941739.jpg) (these two are actually the same).
Now the trouble is nothing even close to this is available where I live. Actually, I haven't ever seen it for sale anywhere.
Any clues where to get it? Are there some e-shops selling these? Are there ANY shops selling these?
It's really one of those I-have-to-have-it-and-I-don't-know-why things, so I thought maybe someone here could give me a hand.
What say you?
As beeing out-fashioned it's nearly impossible to find on stores arround here. Even ready-clip ties were pretty hard for me to find last spring.
Good Luck
What kind of stores have you been checking? I doubt those ties are even produced anymore. A thrift shop would be your best bet, I think, and definitely cheapest - from my experience those places are the elephant graveyards of bad taste, and a great place to find kitschy shirts too. If there's any "retro fashion" secondhand clothes shops in your area, that's a likely but probably more expensive place to find it too.
Ebay?

Couldn't you have it made? Like by a leather(smith? - don't know the word in english) maker/crafter. You know, I'm sure people who make leather pants and jackets could make it for you, I've seen a couple of shops in my city...or, maybe even find an S&M store and ask who supplies them.
Yeah, often Bikie leather shops will do custom work.
Wow, ebay showed up quite a flood of leather ties, and although the majority are square-ended, I've found some shops on the web already.
Strange, I did this search approx. a year ago, and turned up NOTHING.
Locally it's just unavailable, out of question, maybe a custom work would do, but I'll search some more because I don't know any tanners nearby...

Don't tanners just make leather material, not actual objects? ...note: this information coming only from a Dirty jobs episode
You're all wrong, the Tanners lived with ALF!

May be, would the craftsmen making the objects be tailors?

Probably, specialized though. :-\
Got nothing to add about the tie, sorry, I never really liked those kinds of ties!

Such a great show! My all time favorite exchange:
Kate: Do you remember when you thought Mr.Littwak was building an atomic bomb in his basement?
ALF: It
was an atomic bomb.
Willie: It was a pool heather.
ALF: Hah. The Littwak's don't even own a pool.
Kate: Yes, they do.
ALF: They do? Can we go over?
Some truly classic one-liners from that show. Sure the "message" in each episode tended towards typical 80s campiness but the comedy was (and still is) comic gold! I watch the episodes from time to time (I have 'em on DVD) and regularly quote it in daily life!
Alas poor Mrs. Ochmonek, I knew her well...
ALF always wanted to eat the cat. Wasn't his name "LUCKY"?
I guess I found what I was looking for: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-60s-Black-Mottled-Leather-Skinny-Tie-Indie-Mod-/320590085669?pt=UK_Men_s_Vintage_Clothing&hash=item4aa4a87e25
Strange, ebay was missing these things not that long ago.
Anyway, thanks for helping out.
(This is officially my first thread where it all went off topic ;D)
Buy a normal leather tie and tie it the other way round.
