OK, this may be a stupid question but I dunno the answer.

How do you get to be a mittens member? And how or when do you become a mittens veteran?

MillsJROSS

There is no membership into mittens. You just tell whoever is running mittens this year, that you will be attending (Mr. Colossal this year, in NY). That's it.

In case you're just going off people's monikers: Mittens is an annual meeting of AGSers.  The location and date changes each time (for reasons of security).  If you see Mittens Veteran next to a name it means they've attended one of these meetings. If you see Mittens Organizer or something along those lines, it means they've helped set up one of the meetings. If you see Mittens Wearer, it means they're a sissy-boy who wears mittens.

And people who have Socks Member means that they are the enemy... >:(

They are evil, so beware... :-X

Jhumjhum

So Mittens is always held in the US & Europe. I guess I won't be able to attend then.  :'(

Is anybody allowed to get in? I mean how do they prove they're an AGSer ?  ???

It's not as official as all that.  The only proof necessary, I assume, would be that you're crazy enough to want to spend money to travel and hang out with a small group of people that are into adventure games.

As for the location, it's determined somewhere in the neighborhood of a year in advance [edit: *at* Mittens to avoid debates spanning the entire 12 months taking place on the forums, by the way, since screen 7's fubar-ed at the moment, how 'bout a link to the Mittens site for our zoomy little friend? Anyone know it?].  This year will be the first one in the US (NY) and next time it's been determined that Australia will be hosting (partially due to the large proportion of Aussie AGSers and out of consideration for their travel distance to other Mittens locations).

Go if you like... but I'm telling you... if they ask you to Drink the Kool-aid so we can all go be with the annointed one.... DONT DO IT!!!!

As to answer about how can you prove you use AGS....

Didn't you get the memo? We all have 666 erm... AGS tatoo'd upon our foreheads...

Yes, and only others with the tatoos can see them.

Oh ... and the Kool-Aid is safe ... trust us.

When is Mittens this year?  If it's in NY I might actually be able to attend.

You don't follow things very well, do you?  ;)

For the 32nd time, it'll be in Upstate NY, hosted by Eric "Mr. Colossal" Crankypants.  The date's still unconfirmed but mid-to-late July was the last estimate.   I plan on going, much to many's chagrin.

On another note, I assume you're having another insomniac evening(based upon the current time).

m0ds

Yakspit, I think it should be noted that to avoid constant debates as to where Mittens will be held, it will be discussed and at least partly/initially agreed AT Mittens from now on.

zoomer, Mittens is in different places cos it gives us all the chance to see different parts of the world ^_^

Not quite. Mittens Veteran is for those who've attended both Mittens so far (me, m0ds, CJ etc), Mittens Crew is for those who attended only one (custard, FruitTree , Helm etc). Afaik there is no 'Mittens Organizer' or anything similar. m0ds definitely doesn't have it, and he organised the first Mittens...

DragonRose

The reason it actually says "Mittens MEMBER" is that
"member" is put under everybody's name, to state that they are registered to the forums.  So it doesn't say Mittens Member, it says Mittens.  Member. Two seperate things.

Again, not quite, Dragonrose. It says either 'Mittens Crew' or 'Mittens Veteran', then 'Member' underneath. It also says 'Moderator' above, if you are one.

So you're either a Mittens Crew Member, a Moderator Mittens Crew Member, a  Mittens Veteran Member or a Moderator Mittens Veteran Member. :P

I wonder if a Moderator Mittens Veteran Member would win in a game of AGS Trumps...

SSH

Not quite, either AGA. You forgot the four people with title "Mittens '02" who are those that only atteneded the first one and "Mittens Crew" refer to those who attended the '03 one only. Also, you only get "moderator" if you are a moderator of the current forum, which is why your name doesn't have one here even though you are a moderator in other forums...

Now, what the heck is going to happen after mittens 04? You'll need 7 different possibilities:

Attended 02 , 03, 04 only
Attended 02 and 03
Attended 02 and 04
Attended 03 and 04
Attended all mittens meetings...

All this bickering over who killed who will just lead to CJ taking away our forum titles, and then you'll be sorry. ;)
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

Having different titles depending on which mittens you have attended to instead of how many is quite unneccesary...it'd make more sense to have something like this:

1 mittens = Mittens Crew
2 mittens = Mittens Veteran
3 mittens = Mittens Elite
4 mittens = Mittens Commander
5 mittens = A t-shirt with the text "I've been to 5 mittens and all I got was these lousy titles"

Nacho

I concur, but we could make also like:

Miteneer '02.

Miteneer '03.

Miteneer '02, '03.

More ideas?
