I had heard some mixed reviews about the movie life aquatic - but was looking forward to seing it as it just looked like it was going to be so damn cool.
I have to say that I instantly became a fan - halfway through I was all like " hey I wonder where I can get a team Zissou beanie from . . ".  But I agree that the movie may be an aquired taste and that a few people would have gripes especially as it bares a remarkable similar feel to the Royal Tenenbaums.
I really didn't like the Royal Tenenbaums all that much I must say - It took me about three watches before I found it entertaining.

For some reason the Life Aquatic was so welcomingly gitch that I just felt like I wanted to get involved.

But that would just be being silly right?

Anyway - pont of fact - I would like to point out that it has been along time since I saw a film structured in such a way that made me just go - This would make a great Ags Fangame.
After much thought I decided that it was too much work and that slacking off would probably be far more rewarding - but having said that - if Life Aquatic was, at sometime to be made by me, which it wont, but if it was - here is probably what Steve Zissou would lookey like.

I have two questions for you Ags Kids -

If you have seen the movie - what did you think of it ? &

What movies have you inspired to make an AGS fan game?

Todays question ....

Do you hate Andie MacDowell as much as me?

I have not yet, to my great disappointment, seen The Life Aquatic.

I can relate to wanting to make an AGS fan-game from a movie as you well know!

I was, about the time I started making JP & Cosmo, working on a game-based sequel to The Big Lebowski.

I have the entire story in my head.  Full of (I like to think) the same wit and charm as the movie.  I shall say no more ... other than I still intend on making this game at some point.

Perhaps after JP & Cosmo II is done ...

BerserkerTails

Yes, Mr. Frisby, I have seen The Life Aquatic. Twice. It's amazing, as are all of Wes Anderson's films.

Darth: I've seen those sprites before, and heard you talk about your Big Lebowski game. As one of my top 10 movies of all time, I hope to see the game sometime in the future, I know you'd do a good job of it.

As for fan-games myself, I've always been planning an adventure adaptation of Brian De Palma's "Phantom of the Paradise", as it's another one of my top 10 favorite movies of all time. The game, if ever made, would just follow the movie, but with puzzles. I just like trying to find puzzles within the movie without deviating from the plot at all (Which is a challenge, but completely do-able in this movie's case).

I loved The Life Aquatic, even though Zissou's character was pretty hard to identify with, and didn't make the most of Bill Murray.

The cutaway shots of the boat are crying out to be adventurized.

Hmm, films that would make good adventures...
Harry Potter of course - but that's asking for trouble.
National Treasure? Terrible film, but good adventure plot.
Back to the Future I & II.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I'm sure that could work.

I for one like Andie [EDIT for spelling!] MacDowell. Sure, her voice can be annoying, but she has other... qualities...

Blech, Andie McDowell is one of my most hated actresses. She ruins every movie she's in and I can't stand the sound of her voice or the sight of her face.

Darth Mandarb

I liked Andie McDowell in Hudson Hawk.

Speaking of Hudson Hawk ... what a great adventure game that would make as well!

Pelican

Ahhh... Hudson Hawk - such a hilarious movie[/nostalgia]

Andie McDowell wasn't too bad in Groundhog Day - love that movie.

Mr_Frisby

Yes I agree - she steals a scene in Hudson Hawk that made me hate her much less - When she does a fantastic imitation of a dolphin! Thats pretty much the funniest part of the movie.

Anyway - thanks for the replies - even though only a couple of people have taken part in the poll.

I still think it would make a great game and if I was to make a game of the life Aquatic, which I'm not, the cast of characters would probably look something like this.

Awesome!
Your obsession with this film is starting to worry me.
I don't think I can visit the "Post your picture here" now thread for fear of seeing you in speedos.
Luckily you're not making a fan game about it, or I'd really be worried.
Hudson Hawk - I just don't get the bad reviews. I thought it was most entertaining. I enjoyed Cutthroat Island too. Almost makes me want to see Ishtar.

heyooo

Awesome sprites, Jeff Goldblum and Angelica Houston are awesome

Jess [my girlfriend] says "What no dog!!" and she demands you draw him...

Also, where is Steve's friend that gets eaten? And who's the red haired dude? It's been a while...

Also x 2:

Hudson Hawk is an amazing movie and I love it "Mario... Luigi... Ya' ok?" but Jess hates it so. So no, I would not agree that Andie MacDowell is in need of my hate.. Especially because she cowrote Hugson Hawk

First things first - the red head dude is the nearly always topless screenwriter, who quits after the pirates.
Secondly - dog. Have you ever tried to sprite a three legged dog?
If anyone says nice cat - they die.

thirdly -
You are lucky that I'm not all that obsessed with the movie. Infact I couldn't give two hoots about it. You can tell how bothered i'm not by the fact that I havent made any animated sprites like this one yet.

The fact that I haven't just goes to prove that I am not, and will not be making a fan game.

Lastly -

Here is a loverly sprite of Andie MacDowell.

nuff said.

ps I dont own any speedos (yet).

Mr Frisby: Those are awesome. It's good you're not making a game with them.

SteveMcCrea: Ishtar is one of the funniest movies ever. Okay, well not one of the FUNNIEST, but it's still got quite a few moments of hilarity. Especially the beginning. I suggest, if you haven't seen it, that you do. Yes, it is very cheesy, and hokey, but it's also very entertaining.
