in terms of RPGs I definitely recommend Koudelka. It's not perfect and the battle system is a little bland but the story is nice and creepy and the 3 characters are excellently dynamic together.

Also Breath of Fire 1 - 4 were very enjoyable.

@Calin: I could never get into Koudelka.  Though the game the ex-square team did afterwards Shadow Hearts I think it is called on the PS2 was much more enjoyable even though it still looks like a PS1 game.

As anyone who's ever spoken to me will tell you, my favorite game of all time is Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door. Definitely a must-play RPG.

QuoteTha-that's possible?
I can see writing how you talk (with punctuation and all that, you know) but writing out an actual stutter is going annoyingly too far (much like your other thread).

I'm actually surprised no one else has commented on that.

To be fair, mate, that was hardly excessive as textual stutters go, and I'm pretty sure I've seen professional writers use it in dialogues.  And if not professionals, definitely amateur writers of reasonable quality.
Right. In dialogues in stories, comics, novels, games, etc. Just something about it when he wrote it irked me. I can't explain why it does not fit here, maybe someone else can explain. Someone with more than half a brain ;)

I suspect (and please correct me if I'm wrong) that if one of the regulars said the same line, you might have been less inclined to comment.
You are absolutely correct. But if one of the regulars wrote that exact line, I would get the joke, because it would be meant in some way to be, like you said, cutsie or funny. When Icy wrote it, I felt as if he was seriously scared and felt the need to expresse it with a stutter. All I can picture is this icy character quivering in some dark corner (as the camera zooms in of course) in fear that he will be banished from the forums while saying, "Tha-that's possible?!". It just seemed completely obsurd to me at that moment.
Please, somebody back me the fuck up because I can't explain a goddamn thing the way I feel it.

At any rate, I don't know how someone should be expected to know to avoid that or similar mannerisms ahead of time, so it seems a little more understanding would be in order, whether or not you feel that airing this particular preference is necessary.
Was it necessary? No, it wasn't. Fueled by the other thread? Yes.

I mean, I know that your post wasn't anywhere near as harshly worded as some of the stuff in the other thread, but it does have a sort of condescending (is that the word? Passive-Aggressive?) vibe to it.
No, it was not passive-aggressive, quite the opposite, I thought. I wasn't trying to sound nice or helpful.

What gets my panties twisted in a bunch is the fact that he has not made any effort to better himself when talking on these forums (whether or not he's being made fun of - and there has been a few serious attempts to help him). His posts are hard to read because he totally disregards using any sort of puncuation. They are one very long sentence.
I can live with anyone's inability to capitalize at the beginning of a sentence and completely ignore the fact that "i" should be "I" when speaking of one's self (it's turned into the "norm" now days on the internet - I'm used to it enough, I suppose), but having to read it over again to make sure I understand what they are trying to say, when they write in one continuous sentence, is a little much.

Really, I'm not one to correct someone's grammar and spelling, since I can't spell for shit anyway (Dictionary.com is my best friend) and my grammar is always far from perfect, but it does annoy the crap out of me when no effort is produced what so ever to write/type correctly.
I'm sure Icy can, he just won't.
He is not an idiot. His drawings are actually pretty good as well. I just wish he would try to create sentences with seperate paragraphs so my eyes stop falling out.

Now you may be asking yourself, if it bothers me so much, then why read his threads in the first place? Or why even comment at all?
Because I've got some sort of morbid fascination with it.

(Serious question: Would it be stepping on toes to start a civil, reasoned discussion on newbie policy in a thread where such is actually on topic?
Yes, I think that is a great idea.

ON TOPIC:
I've always loved Final Fantasy VII. It's the only one I ever played through and finished. The world and atmosphere that was created in this game was brilliant.
I always wanted to play FFIX but never got the chance. I remember seeing the commercial for it when it first came out and I thought, WOW! I loved the look of the world and the characters. I played a bit of FFVIII, but I couldn't get into it. Maybe it took itself too seriously, I don't know. I guess I really didn't like the characters looking too real, too anatomically correct, I suppose. I really like the short, cutsie, cartoony-looking characters.

ON TOPIC:

Wait, this thread has a *topic*?

At the top it says (topic: people who like RPG's & FINAL FANTASY)

Khris

It's really hard not to reply to that with yet another sarcastic remark. Oh, too late.

I also liked Koudelka. I still have a copy of it.

By the time FFIX came out, I had already exhausted both FFVII and FFVIII. I got about half way through IX, before I lost interest. My interest dropped with each successive FF after that.

Haven't tried XIII yet.
