On Monday, sometime around 8 to 8.30pm GMT (not sure exactly when) there will be a skypecast of the AGS Awards nominations. Be there or be square! Make sure you've got a reasonably recent skype, and go here:
AGS Awards 2006 skypecast (https://skypecasts.skype.com/skypecasts/skypecast/detailed.html?id_talk=307654&hash=dc38241c14f3b96adbe8)
SHOCK TEASER: One game that I'm sure most people were expecting to have lots of nominations has entirely failed to have any, despite getting 67 votes across the various categories.
I'm afraid I am going to have to ask how that works. I have skype, but skypecasts? never heard of them. Please advise!
Can someone capture this as AVI or MPEG and upload it someplace?
You start up skype, click the link above in your browser, and I'm hoping it all magically works from there...
Is there no chance you could do it sometime during the weekend so that people in America who work during the day might be able to attend?
No, because the end of voting has been set to 9am GMT on Monday for ages now, and I don't think its fair to move the goalposts now, in case some Americans are planning to play some more games and then vote on Sunday evening...
The awards ceremony proper will be on IRC from 8pm GMT on Sunday 11th February, however, so you can come along for that.
Okay, then what Radiant said. :)
I don't expect you to change anything for this year, but what's with Sunday? If you had the awards on Saturday at 8PM GMT then it's mid-Saturday afternoon for Americans and early Sunday mornings for Australians (and us few Japan dwellers). Early Sunday morning is much better than early Monday morning thanks to work and school. I'm sure the Aussies would agree.

Isn't skypecast, only with voice? Why avi, or mpeg, and not ogg or mp3 then?
Could be mistaken of course...
OK, the votes are counted, the nominations sorted and things are being prepared for the announcement later today! I'll try and capture the announcements as an MP3, but I'll put up a text version after anyway, and you'll be able to see on the voting page...
The big file of (almost) all the nominated games comes in at about 270M, just trying to sort out a torrent just now, or you'll still be able to download them individually from the games pages, too, anyway. If you do use a torrent it, please keep your client going so that the global bandwidth is increased for everyone!
and Vince, if your daughter doesn't get you up at 6am ANYWAY, you're getting no sympathy from me ;)
I hope the SHOCK TEASER isn't about Blackwell Legacy, that not enough people have voted because it's commercial - though it would be understandable since the demo wasn't out until the end of January. But it could be any of the commercial games - how many people have even purchased Super Jazz Man yet?
Or it could be a non-commercial game. Or not. 8)
If possible, we may be starting the Skypecast half an hour early, at 8pm GMT, for personal reasons involving myself...
Oh God! The suspense!I...CAN'T...TAKE...IT! :o
...
Oh wait, I can... :)
EDIT: For Firefox users running Adblock Plus, disable it for skypecasts.skype.com to properly view the skypecast page linked in the first post. And if you have cookies turned off, turn them on.
I have just joined the Skypecast, it's my very first...and I gotta say, you all are some *weird* mothers. :) DuckTales in the foriegn language was freaking hilarious, though!
Ack! I believe I was one of the first to join, but the damn music won't stop!!!! :=
yeah, that music is annoying. And I'm pretty sure I was the first by the way. But still, luckily there's no more whistling.
Yes, music... loud, and annoying
AND WHO KEEPS WHISTLING???!
And when is Mr. MacCormack going to join(EDIT) - whoops, dere he be.
Im willing to actually log in on these forums just to spa... listen to these things.
Not that I need to be logged in here for that, but I like the reply button. ;D
I do wish I could actually remember my skype username. Meh.
Edit: Well, this is interesting. I could've sworn I formatted my computer but it still remembers my username. But seriously, CHAOS! :P
Err... are these skypecasts recorder or transcripted or something?
For all us non-skypers...
Recordings turned crap I believe, but there will be a text version!
The skypecast is done and you can go and vote here (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/awards.php?action=dovote), but please try and play all the games in any category that you vote for. If you haven't managed to play them all, please just leave out that category. A torrent will be available ASAP!
Here's a (very) rough 56k stream of the skypecast for anyone on dial-up or anyone especially eager to hear it.

A better version is on the way courtesy of MadReiska. :)
PS. Thanks to everyone who nominated Heartland Deluxe. :-*
Here's MadReiska's version. It's not much bigger, as the extra bits in sound quality didn't really do much, due to overall poor Skype sound quality. But he fixed it a bit for easier listening. There's the very beginning missing, but I don't think there was anything too important said.
Get it here (http://www.veriloylykauha.net/audio/Skypecast_agsawards_nominations_64kbps.mp3), roughly 10mb.
So, I'm listening to the SkypeCast (thanks MadReiska!)(and well done SSH et al.) and I noticed that you named Reactor 09 as one of the nominees for Best Animation but the voting page lists Trilby's Notes in its stead. What's up?
And thanks to everyone who voted for Linus, and thanks for the honorary best title award!
get all nominees packed in one file, ssh made a torrent for you :)

Whoops, sorry, animation was the last on my counting page and there was a cut-and-paste error in what I was looking at in the skypecast, so the voting page is the definitive list.
Too bad I'm no native english speaker and don't understand a word of what was said during the skypecast...
Cool beans! My votes are in. Best of luck to Mr Moorson for the music award. I'm jealous! :P
Who was hosting this skypecast?
Billy Crystal
At first I thought it was Grundislav and SSH, but then I remembered that I really didn't have anything to base that on except the Grundislav Games ditty (which, I suppose, is Solomon Grundy himself)... And I think I heard the supposed Grundislav mention Zooty as well. But, wait... SSH is Scottish, so why does he have a regular British accent??
Okay, it was probably Billy Crystal. Disregard my guess.
Billy Crystal was probably the guy that kept saying 'YAHTZEE!!!' :=
