Well, as I was surfing through the database looking for a game to play, I noticed its very messy in there! Tons of broken links and screens. Does anyone else get aggravated looking through it? I sure do!

You've got to understand that a lot of games are old, and authors stop supporting them, or services stop hosting.

Hmm
Maybe it is a good idea to delete entries from the database if there is no download.
You wouldn't keep a stale kipper in your fridge longer than you need to...  it's ugly, it smells and it takes up space in the fridge.

I'm sure the game database will be in a much better state as soon as the review team finishes their work. I remember someone estimate that 70% of the entries had already been reviewed back in December, so let's be patient and see how things turn out. At least we know these problems are already being worked on.

Yesterday I paged through all 900+ entries. Suprising how much still works (maybe 5% is down). I found the ones that didn't work in bicicle-for-slugs, which can be a hassle.

Yeah, part of the work that the Review Committee are doing is marking games with broken download links, and they will then be excluded from the search results until the link is fixed.

I remember trying to download 'Chez apa' I think the game was, and for some reason it re-directed me to this porntube, I didn't know it was porn until I saw the link bar.

And that's how my PC got a virus attack for the second time.

Regarding the fixing of links - would the review committee (or some other part of the website organisation) be willing to upload the missing games to bicycle-for-slugs or americangirlscouts (or megaupload, if they're very large), and fix the links in the games.php section? This would help restoring the games for which the authors are no longer around.

Well, initially everyone was checking bfs and fixing what games they could, but it only slowed the rating process down even more for some people.  I'm currently in the process of reworking bfs so all the authors are differentiated there by folders with what games can be found added in, so it will be relatively effortless afterward to just go through the folders to find the games that apply to the database entries and fix the links.

I love that site, but yes I can understand how that would be a pain.
