Title: AGS Skypecast
Post by: Steel Drummer on Mon 12/03/2007 22:24:13
I assume this probably has been discussed before, so please mods, don't hesitate to delete this if it has; anyways, I downloaded Skype a few days ago, and I think it's a great program. Very convenient. So I thought, why not start an AGS Skypecast- there could be people running at at various times during the day, and AGSers could drop in and stuff. Almost like IRC. Any thoughts on this? Anyone have any more ideas for things like this?

You mean like the usual 25 people talking to each other? Sounds like a chaos. What i would fancy was an AGS radio of somekind with granted shows for people, but I'd bet there'd be more than 2000 of us wanting to do that, and it would get out of hands unless moderated, and that would be unfair.

But I don't suppose anyone would object you setting up one. I'd set up a radiostation if I knew how to and really got someone to cover up when m sleeping/working...

We've talked about both a skypecast and an AGS podcast/radio web-cast. The skypecast didn't make it to far, but I BELIEVE at one point there was an AGS radio. At different points in the day different AGSers would take over an DJ. People had shows and such. Maybe I'm thinking of another forum, or I'm delusional.

There have been the the AGS operas, the AGS podcasts done on skype (interviews mostly), AGS radio went for a time too but of course nobody listened.
Your idea sounds more like an audio chatroom, which, if you've ever tried one with more than a handful of people, is really too chaotic. Some AGS IRCers skype now and then in small groups... that works ok.
