Title: An Aussie sketch show, what's it again?
Post by: Tuomas on Thu 11/05/2006 20:47:32
Hi there. I started wondering... There was this awesome , Australian iirc, sketch show running on tv a few years back here. I used to watch the last few episodes that I ramdomly cought while they were on, and each time I fell off my chair several times. THe program was one of the funniest I've ever seen.

I think it was named after someone's surname, but not sure. It also had this sketch about the program where people challenged their relatives to do something awful, dunno it's name either, a sucky show, but a great sketch of it. Now I was wondering, there is usually at least someone who knows what I'm talking about, so if you could kindly name the show, I'd see to it again, please.

Thanks.

Is it possibly Double The Fist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_the_fist)? Its the only Aussie show that comes to mind. Worth checking out anyway.

THIS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Australian_television_comedy_series) may help you though.

Quoteeach time I fell off my chair several times
You should really get that chair fixed, or it could be due to fluids within your inner ear. I'm no expert on this stuff but the only australian programmes I've ever seen is Neighbours and Round the Twist.

The only Australian sketch show named after a Surname I can think of was the Micallef P(are)ogram(me).

--edit-- Thanks txt editor! [the first brackets are the letter "R", the first season being The Micallef Program, then the Programme, then the Pogram.]

Which was funny when I first watched it.

Australian Sketch programs I know are as Las has mentioned, the Micallif Pogram. Also, there was Fast Forward, Full Frontal and THe D Generation Late Show.

Yeah, Micallef it was, thanks a lot. That's not really a word one remebers. It's like naming some show Beghwagoogoobö. Or maybe I'm just not familiar enough with these Aussie-names.

Anyway, I recommend this show to everyone who likes a good laugh. :D

I used to watch that on Paramount comedy channel.

Micallef doing the Make-A-Wish Foundation sketch where he asks the sick kid in hospital what wish he would like to be granted (going to Disneyland, etc) and the kid replies, "I wish Lisa McCune would wank me off" would rate in the top 3 greatest things I have seen on TV.
