Everyone, who have worked at least a little know what it is. Everything startss to look boring or too hard. The plot seems to stuck and you cn't think of anything what will happen next. Just can't do anything in AGS.
The question is: What do you do to overcome this mix of lazyness and writer's block (prefferably if it works)?

When I have this I take a break from working on my game and play some games or watch some movies. Preferably games and movies with a similar theme to my game to steal ideas get some inspiration. And that's pretty much it. I have taken a long break(2-3 weeks) recently and it greatly helped.

What I do is to post 2 or 3 no sense posts in Gen Gen, to see if I become popular.
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Nikolas

I don't get bored.

I'm the obsessive type.

I just run out of the time...

But whne the deadlines hit, I just deliver 100%!

I slack around until something else bores me more than continuing to work. Doesn't make me very fast, but it works.  ;D

The fediverse needs great indie game developers! Find me there!

:D :D that makes me very dull too.

I find that best results in creativity come before sexual arousal. Once your thoughts are distracted though, you can't consentrate on the game making. Same goes to having released the pressure, you become numb in the head. Well, I do. Makes me want to compose music though.

Usually when I get depressed using AGS, I do like yesterday: quit. And then open it up again when I feel like it. time heals all wounds. That or shitloads of beer.

I watch Labyrinth. And The Dark Crystal. And after that, Nightmare Before Christmas. Don't know why, but the craftyness in these flicks always cheers me up. Plus, lot's of Ben&Jerries Phish Food.

Those are three movies I also watch to get inspired!!  That's great!  I also watch Galaxy Quest and Shrek ... they get me motivated.

Does Shrek motivate you to make a game with a lot of fart jokes and puerile humor?  That's all I really got out of those movies ;\.

As for motivation, I usually try to remember why I wanted to make the game in the first place and then maybe play a few games that inspired me to want to be a designer when I was younger.  Some age better than others, though!

Hah!  Actually the "environments" of Shrek are inspiring to me.  The atmosphere and the backgrounds.  I actually think, with Shrek 2, they took a step back as the scenery in Shrek was amazing (and much better)!

Ghost

Plus, Shrek is like a how-to-manual when it comes to turning clichees upside down. That's some trick in my book I like to use.

Glad to have found another old-school puppet-movie fan, Darth!
