Well, finally the Boston Red Sox win the World Series.
I just finished watching the game, and I'm pretty happy for them.

Of course, this breaks "the curse or the Bambino" (a few of you will know what I'm talking about) that has been busting their luck for 86 years.
I went to a Baseball game in Boston over the summer, and it's the fan loyalty there is amazing.  I can only imagine how hectic it must be over there right now.

Props to the Boston Red Sox, the new champions of Major League Baseball.

Yeah, this is crazy! I remember watching the ALCS (American League Championship Series) last year when the Sox lost to the Yankees and it was CLOSE. It's kinda crazy how suddenly, this year, the Sox lose the first 3 games, then pull ahead and won the last 4 to win the ALCS, then win the first 4 games of the World Series. Insanity. ;D

I remember last year.  I didn't even watch the World series simply because of what it could have been, the Cubs and Sox (once again, non-americans/fans may not know why it would have been so awesome)

I don't really care about baseball, but I have some friends in Boston who are probably going to wake up with some killer hangovers in unforseen places tomorrow.

I think the curse is bullcrap, they've just sucked a lot for a long time.
Once I killed a man. His name was Mario, I think. His brother Luigi was upset at first, but adamant to continue on the adventure that they started together.

I live in Boston and have been a Sox fan my whole life. This is the best sports moment I've ever experienced. I love this team, and I'm still numb from joy. And this city is going absolutely NUTS tonight!!

Hooray can't wait for the rioting and arrests!

Nothing says go team like setting someone car on fire.....

I've seen baseball, I understand and like it (not very common in Europe!). Isn't it very american? I mean... most of the time happens nothing. You can go to the fridge, make popcorn, drink your beer... But once in a match, or each two matches or three something incredible happens.

Also offers the possibility top mess with statistics, which is very yankee too, imo.

I preffer NFL though... Who's going this year?

Go go Pats!
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Hey, we had a team from Canada play in it a couple times back in the '90s! (And yes, I realize this is why most of the world just shakes its head at the U.S. sometimes...) ;-)

No kidding. Fortunately, there was none of that nonsense last night, from what I've heard on the news.

yeah, i wish i was back home in Connecticut, or in boston or somewhere other than DC.  I bet people are going nuts.  I wish it were a better series though, the cards barely put up a fight.  The pennant race was excellent though.

not that i'm really that into baseball.  I'm just happy the yankees lost.

Moox

I was born in Boston, great victory...
First we beat the yanks, then the rest of the league!

Las Unplugged

It was on TV in the uni bar until the cricket started in India.

Which makes for an interesting comparison. Test cricket takes 5 days to play.

Yet baseball makes THAT look action packed.

and cricket at least has the excuse of being mainly played in weather hovering in the high thirties and low forties in the most of the world (round about 100 F), and they do crazy shit like hit the ball more than 10% of the time.

Not that I'm defending cricket to any huge extent, but wowza! I thought the laziness of Gridiron players that forced them to make 1 hour of gameplay take 4 hours to get through was extraordinary. Nothing requires a barrel of gatorade like 15 seconds of running.

I usually don't follow sports, but since I used to live in Boston I followed it pretty closely this year. Ã, Quite exciting. Ã,
