Title: Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures
Post by: DBoyWheeler on Wed 07/08/2013 23:03:57
Did you all hear?  There's gonna be an Angry Video Game Nerd GAME!  Yes, you heard that right!

If you want to watch it on YouTube... click here. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CYf3lwlGwU)

Also, now that you think about it... wouldn't it be cool if there were an AGS game about the AVGN?  (I forget if this topic was brought up already, but still, it'd make a great AGS project in the future)

I enjoyed his earlier videos, his later ones not so much. I've not checked his site in a long while though, maybe there's some better stuff now.

The game looks pretty cool, certainly what you'd expect an AVGN game to be like.

AVGN AGS? Maybe.... I don't think he's reviewed any point and click adventures.

I think he'd make a great Reality on the Norm character, wouldn't you?  ;)

And maybe in other "Joke Games".  I'm sure for every REALLY good adventure game, there has to be a s**tty adventure game for our beloved nerd to parody.

Can't say I'm at all a fan of the AVGN, or any other internet reviewer with a comedy persona or schtick bar maybe one or two.

So puttin that aside, all I'm seeing is a pretty generic looking retro-styled (because god forbid you use full resolution graphics) platformer with unimpressive art and sound likewise limited by trying to make it 8-bit.

If it were a Flash game on a website I couldn't really complain, but paying money for something that doesn't even have a proper artist on board? Eh.

I'm sure there are hundreds of platformers where you jump from platform to platform dodging spikes and shooting enemies directly to your left or right. And probably an equal number where their schtick is their increased difficulty. The world really isn't in need of a watered down I Wanna Be The Guy.

It even has the tropes of ice level, fire level, Mega Man-esque level, Castlevania-esque level, Mario-esque level. I'm not seeing anything that makes it stand out other than having the brand of a guy who makes videos about games while pretending to be angry.

Didn't realise it was a commercial game!

I wouldn't pay money either.

I'm really looking forward to playing this. Like his work or not, James is a devoted and hardworking filmmaker; it's been nice seeing him get this kind of Internet-celebrity attention the past couple years.
