Title: Animinute - New compo Idea
Post by: Afflict on Fri 14/04/2006 21:07:16
I thought this could be enjoyable, I have become very keen on animating these days and would love to see something like this bloom!

The idea is to have a once a month competition that has a single person or group of people create a littl minute movie animation. The time frame 1 month, and the duration at least 1 minute.

Your thoughts and interest in this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Afflict.

Nice idea but I think the current animation competition is enough. There are too many competitions anyway. :P

How about a competition to come up with the best competition idea? I'd submit that idea... so I'd win.....

Slightly off topic, but hey.

yea I think this idea could work, but a minute seems a bit too short. The biggest problem for me with the current animation competition is that it has a sprite given to you, and for me with very limited art skills, as anyone who has played ANY of my games will notice.

An idea of maybe Animuntes where you can animate a sprite, background, object but you say have 10 minutes to animate it (any time limit for the original item). Or you must animate someone elses work from a sprite jam / background blitz.

I'd attempt a few entries to help improve my skills.

Well thats just it the general idea is to attract more people to submit a animation minimum length of one minute.
All that you get to supply is a general theme or idea of what its about and the animator/s can do their own graphics skill etc.

LoL I dont feel the current animation comp is enough...

I think it will be hard. What I could imagine is some kind of "movie competition", where someone makes a movie using AGS, i.e. a cutscene with, let's say, 5 minutes in length. The starter of each competition could give a topic and some restrictions, like "there has the be this and that person or this or that kind of animation".

cheers
