Hi everybody.

Where does this phrase comes from? And why is it so often quoted?

"Domo aigato Mister Roboto"

Austin Powers sais it in "Goldmember"
Homer sais it in one of the "Simpsons" episodes
Seann William Scott sais it in the 2003 MTV "Matrix Reloaded Parody"
and many more...

So ... it has to be funny ... but I don't get it (perhaps because I'm German?Ã,  :P )
Please help meÃ,  :)

Thanks in advance,
Stefan

Well bablefish says that it's itallian and that it means 'I tame aigato Mister Robot'. Hmm, i would also like to know what it means now.

Al_Ninio

Styx - Mr. Roboto.
It's a song.

And Babelfish is pretty wrong. "Domo arigato" is Japanese for "thank you" or something to that effect. "Mr. roboto" is pretty self explanatory.

Thansk Al_Ninio.

Interesting to see that this song is so often quoted.
Was there a particular way in which Styx pronounced it? I mean ... something must have been the trigger for its popularity.

Err... It's just a frickin' great song.  Listen to it once and you'll be singing it all day.

Arigato means thank you in Japanese. Domo Arigato is "Thank you very much". Years of listening to Styx and watching Japanese films (Non-Anime) have taught me that.
I make music.
