Digging this old thread, it has been officially announced that Apple is going to switch to intel, and they have been secretly working on versions of Mac OS X that do run on (I'm guessing they're regular) Pentium processors. I think this would probably aid to the transition of AGS to the Mac, don't you think?

Quote from: Mac Rumors paraphrases Steve JobsEvery release of OS has been compiled for intel x86 for the last 5 years - cross platform by design.

As long as all the required libraries used in the engine has a MAC version (or alternative).

Its always the graphics library that is the hardest thing to be cross platform, so when Allegro support the new IntelMac, then Chris or someone might start to support it...

The first Intel powered macs are scheduled for June of 2006 or thereabouts.
But the idea is that all apps will have a "fat binary" that includes both PPC and x86 code.
I'm not sure if it's going to be possible to compile an app so it only runs on x86.

Just in case anyone hasn't noticed, there is now a beta version of a Mac OSX port of the AGS engine here, and testing would be appreciated:
