Anyone remember reading about a tribal woman integrated into modern society?

When I was very little I read (I think in the National Geographic or similar) about a woman from perhaps some Amazonian tribe (or similar) who was taken, taught to speak english and educated, then spoke about her experience and the differences between cultures etc. I've tried searching for this for some time without success, anybody have any idea of where to find this story or maybe it rings a bell to you? I remember finding it fascinating but unfortunately cant' remember enough key details to track it down...

I saw a really cool documentary of a similar case of three of the "Lost Boys", the thousands of male children refugees from Sudan. A few came to the US to live a new life and it followed them for a few months. I think it was called something like "God Forget Us"....

That's definitely something I'm interested in, yes, I do recall something but not very clear and rather foggy between my mind.
