Yeah, so we (me & my gf) decided to have a holiday vacation and bought tickets to Berlin. We'll be spending from wednesday till monday there near the centre and just realised, it's huge. But like in every city in the world, there are places worth seeing and those you'd rather miss.

So I was wondering if anyone of you knew say, a nice cafe, a good place for dining, some interesting museum, we're culture freaks. Or anything, what ever comes to your mind that would be worth seeing/visiting. Then I'd be able to locate it on the map and mark it down, see if we'll make it in the couple of days that we have. Also, does anyone know where I could find some info about good clubs/bars and wherther there's perhaps a band performing or not?

Here's hoping someone likes Germany too :)

Oh, btw, we're leaving at the 18th of August.

Here's a German site that lists pretty much all nightlife events:

Click "Change" in the top bar, then select Berlin.

Can't help you further though as I'm from Munich.

Do you have a national ticket service of some kind? We have one that sells all your concert, circus and whatnot-tickets on the internet.

Hm, I was there last year but spent most of my time on the beach, so I don't really have any city highlights for you.

Except the hop-on-hop-off bustour, which I heartily recommend.

I lived in Berlin for a year, but it's been a while (2003-04) so I'm not sure any of the places I can recommend are still the way they were back then. I know I've had some fun nights in Ausland and Weinerei. Pergamon Museum and the other museums on the Museum Insel were fascinating, and Hamburger Bahnhof had a great collection of modern art. There are so many exhibitions, festivals and events going on in Berlin at all times, with both new and established names, so the best advice I can give is really to buy a copy of Zitty when you get there and read about the events of the week.
