Hey guys you probably see me around the forum alot these days,
anyway I have been working on a title (no formal anouncements yet..)

Heres my question any advice or programs that I can make western music with?
I know I can probably get someone to do it for me but I kind of want to make my
first game alone.

Thanks.

Nikolas

What do you mean with Western Music?

If you're taking about teh Far West kind of thing, you will probably need some banjo sounds (not to mention instruments).

But if you decide to get some help, I seem to recall mOds saying that he wanted to write music like this...

Well...

If you're not talking about that tell me and I'll help you as much as I can...

Yeps, could be great fun to make Western music! There aren't specific programs to make it, you have to learn the style & sound through the use of instruments to portray good westerns. :)

In that case I might need some help!

I only play a little guitar, I mean like heavy cowboy western.
Dirty harry kind of stuff or magnificant 7 or whatever they were called.

I am really looking for a theme song to use for my western creation.
Cowboys Indians the whole nine yards...

Anybody up for the challenge?

IMHO, the best places to look for inspiration on Western music is "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly" and "A Fistfull of Dollars" OSTs. All of the tunes. I particularly like that guitar-ish sound that seems to... to... damn, I don't have the vocabulary. But the Shadows used that sound a lot, it's pretty clear when the guitar picks out the melody in the Good Bad & Ugly theme - anyway, long story short, I associate that sound with Western, for some reason.

Do you have some screens? Something that re-assures me your game will exist would get me interested, certainly :)

Well I dont have alot I have the Alex face about 200 pages full of concept art and writing.
And a head full of wonderfull and magnificant ideas...

The conceptual drawings and writing contian
Two characters so far (drawings)
The story line fully developed up until about 14%
The Gui Interface
And about 200 meg of research (on the hard drive)

If your anything like I am you know where this is heading, and it gets my juices flowing all over again!

Ewww! =)

I think the best to way to actually write a particular style of music is to study it. Find a piece that you like, get some tabs of the net and study it. Look for patterns and notice the chord progressions, find out what key it's in and notice the rhythym.
Try to recreate something similiar and gradually improve it over time.

That's the best way to learn a style IMO.
