In other, relevant news, I actually managed to secure a copy of Burning Crusades somehow so... woo. That's great. Anybody else here going to play the expansion?

I wouldn't say Guild Wars sucks, but it's really not my cup of tea. I tried playing it and got to about level 9, and it was just this really linear, repetitive gameplay... Actually, Factions seemed a lot less fun than the original...

Mr BuckÃ©thead... why do you prefer Guild Wars, out of interest? My boyfriend works for the publisher, so I've got collectors editions of the first two, and I've got a collectors edition of Nightfall on the way... they're really beautiful collections, man, but I just can't seem to get into the game like I could with WoW.

I enjoy Guild Wars when I playing with actual friends, other times its just boring. I liked WoW up untill about level 40.

I cant play any of the mmos I'd like to right now though, because of silly restrictions on the university network. WoW and Guild Wars both work for some reason, but City of Heroes and Matrix Online wont.

Skyfire: I have an idea. Why don't you start a separate thread where you can you know, try and get one up on people or you know, tell people how old you are or tell people that you don't mind 'fags', or whatever else you want to do, and the rest of us can get on with this discussion? You can be loud and annoying and edit your posts repeatedly and do and say whatever you like and nobody will even have to read it.

hotspot: yeah, but I'm the same with WoW. I wouldn't enjoy it if I had to play without my friends... the thing that struck me about guild wars was that... well, first of all I didn't feel nearly as attached to my character as I do in WoW. I also didn't find the world as interesting or immersive... it seemed quite bland. Someone in some review somewhere at some point in time (Â¬Â¬) said that Guild Wars is the 'thinking mans' Warcraft"... but it really isn't ...

Never found an online game that I liked, or that I could play for more than a few hours.

NCSoft has a habit of giving away free 14-day trials of most of their games, so I'm not adverse to giving them a whirl. I just find leveling-up, with a goal of...more leveling-up, to be tedious in the extreme.

City of Heroes/Villians was okay, though Auto Assault was pretty bad.

Guild Wars gets a bonus point for having no sub fees, but didn't thrill me either.

Maybe the fact that I don't enjoy these games isn't related to their percieved quality, but that I'm just one of those people who don't "get" the allure of mmorpgs.

Have you tried WoW? I was the same as you, but did actually find WoW really quite magical. I was really against giving it a go at first, because all my co-workers talked about it all day long and made it seem incredibly boring... I still wouldn't go as far as some people, you know, with the whole 'talking about WoW 24 hours a day' thing that occurs... but I must say, it's quite enjoyable

There's a massive world to explore and a lot to do... you're not so aware about the whole 'levelling up' thing as you are with a lot of MMORPGs I reckon

I actually play WoW a bit, although it takes me ages to level up.
I tried Guild wars some year ago, but it was way too linear and restricted. There were way too many immature kids in guild wars, far worse than wow. In my wow-guild most players are around 25, some over 30, and many of them have partners and families. I will buy TBC whenever I get money and opportunity.

Yeah, I found Guild Wars way too full of idiots (most likely young people.. due to the lack of monthy fees) and it made it difficult to find people worth playing w ith, in my opinion at least. Its easier in WoW and other MMOs I played though.

I did. I was curious, so I did. His guild was called 'DRAGNS BLAK'.

I found Guild Wars was full of people like him...
