ugh my computer broke!
I've ran nummerous virus scans and none of em can find anything!
explorer keeps crashing so I'm not able to do anything except surf the net!
I wish I could provide you guys with some more info, but I'm just not that techie!
any help would be greatly appreciated!
Windows install CD -> Repair windows.
Or place a new windows over the old one, but then you will have to reinstall all installed apps too....
Go Ubuntu! (http://www.ubuntu.com/) ;D
But seriously now,
Get AVG and Spybot if you don't have them already and see if they can find a virus. If no luck after that, I would just go with arj0n's idea and reinstall windows.
I would go back to Ubuntu if I didn't have to dual boot into Windows to use After Effects :(
Are you able to enter Windows Safe Mode?
If so, from what I read online, see if you can do a defrag of the hard drive. Not sure it will help. If you can, scan the drive for errors and see if that works.
AVG and the likes of it can't find anything!
I'll try to repair windows, I won't lose any personal files then right?
FruitTee
When choosing repair: no loose of personal files, it's perfectly safe.
Only C:\Windows will be repaired, "my documents" for example will be untouched.
So, it will leave your applications and settings intact, but Windows updates will need to be reapplied.
A Repair Install will replace files altered by adware and malware, but will not fix an adware, malware problems.
Succes met repareren ;)
ugh could not repair for some reason! (could be I'm doing it wrong!)
I could re-install but I'm still kinda scared of losing all my pictures and drawings and recorded music en lyrics and such!
but I seem to have found a certain file on my desktop that makes everything crash!
everything! no matter what program I use to try to open this mpeg (from nero to media player and from picasa to VLC etc) they keep crashing! even when I use ctrl+o and I browse through my desktop files the moment I see this file it crashes!
I getting really frustrated!
last update!
I used a register cleaner on my computer and with it I could locate that one file and finally delete it!
then I ran severe antivirussus and everything seems to be shiny now!
