So...teh famous Ohio sniper just picked off a car on the road I take to school. In fact, on national TV, it shows "ohio sniper hits small town granville ohio"

so...if you hear of an 85' olds getting blown away by said sniper...it was me. shed a tear for me

*note for those outside of us/dont watch news* ...some guy is shooting cars in the state where I live. they used to be about 45 min from where I live. now, cars are getting nailed 2 and 3 min away
word up

LGM

Damn.. That' fuckin' scary.. They should cancel school for that.. Keep kids off the roads
You. Me. Denny's.

Nine Toes

...That IS fukkin scary.   :(

I haven't heard anything about it, yet... I think I should go watch the news.
Watch, I just killed this topic...

Oh man, the WWF wont like people shooting at their wrestlers... I mean, Panda... :P

Darth Mandarb

Damn ... the solution is that when you're driving don't sit right in your seat!

Sit like the homeboys you see that put the seatback all the way down and can just barely see under the top of the steering wheel as they're leaning all the way to the back seat of the car.  And have to over extend their arm to the top of the steering wheel just to fit that 'image'.  Oh ... and don't forget to put your 'off' hand (the one not over-extended to the steering wheel) up to your mouth like you're deep in thought.

Then, not only will you be sniper safe,  and incredibly uncomfortable, but you'll also be hip-hop cool and 'too fast too furious!'.

Who could ask for more?

On a serious note, that sucks, and good luck ...

I for one can actually give empathy. Those two jerks were shooting people right in the DC/Maryland/Virginia. The boy shot outisde the school happened 15 minutes away from me. I couldn't go to pump gas near interstates or suffer the fate of that poor man who was killed pumping gas or the others pumping gas and being shot at.  I'm so glad they caught those F*ers around my area, and I am so sad to think about that theres another maniac out there. I've been following it on CNN for the past couple months, and I'm sorry that its going on in your area, and that its going on at all. I hope he gets whats coming to him soon, but suffers for the pain he's causing.
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

I'm sorry to hear about your sniper problem.  I'd recommend installing Norton Anti-Sniper.  It installs ready to remove many different kinds of snipers, even those that haven't been properly identified yet.  It's also got an update utility so that you can download the new sniper definitions.  If, for example, you want to make certain you can take care of the new pesky Disgruntled Emo-sniper, it's just a quick 25k download and you're on your way.

There are also freeware alternatives, if you don't feel like shelling out the bucks for NAS. One utility that isn't really an Anti-sniper but can help you out regardless is Sniper Search & Destroy.

Good luck.

Man, this is why Adventure Games need to become popular again, this is our duty to make it so these nuts start walking round the street and start picking up banana peels, donuts, and metal rods to combine to make a fishing rods, instead of shooting people.

Because of these FPS games, people are getting sick of them cause they're so boring that they have to go and live it for real, that with the combination of gun laws and the state of the current world.

I hope that you remain safe Panda, but with your current ninja skills you should be able to catch the bullets.

I'm just happy I live in a safe country (except for the fact that there have been a large number of drive by shootings & and other shootings of late in Sydney, but not in my local area)

::)  It's not Games that make people psychotic, and it's not the fault of gun laws or the state of the world. Some people grow up with problems and never learn how to properly cope with them, so they blame the world and assault people whose names they don't even know. One hundred years ago it was Jack the Ripper. If this guy wasn't shooting people off of an overpass, he'd be dropping jars of acid on their windshields (that happened here). Think before you blame.

People in my hometown were total retards, and they all had guns. It would be scary, except they'd been taught at an early age to respect guns and human life, and so was I. The only time you're in danger of being shot by one of those NRA people is if you try to break into their house or otherwise endanger their lives. Or if you look like a deer and prance around in a forest.

One of my friends once went to a mental hospital for depression and he met a man who fantasized about eating human eyeballs. He wasn't a fan of video games at all. He didn't even watch TV/movies. They did have a huge discussion about how great reading was though.

Panda, I would offer you a joke or a word of consolation, but with luck you'll be in the +99% of people who aren't killed anyway.

shbazjinkens, I was kind of joking, even though in 1% of cases I might be right. I know the games don't necessarily make people psychotic, but a lot of psychotic people are attracted to those sort of games.

But you can't deny anything about gun laws in the US being a problem. And all I mean is there are more quantities of guns, therefore more chance of them being used irresponsibly. It only takes 1 accident for your kid to kill you, no matter how well you teach them.

Then If you make tougher gun laws the black market will just get bigger, cause everyone is used to having their guns.

it's catch-22 and a long time before the government wakes up to itself and at least has a think about it, and don't bring in all that constitution crap, that's the oldest bad excuse in the book.

If you have the equipment around in quantities it will get used, if it's not there, people will either just forget about it or do something else.

Just an analogy, there isn't really much of a 'Crack' problem in Australia cause there aint much Crack if any, so people use Cocain (very expensive) but mainly just speed. It's a different case with other drugs that are grown or manufactured locally.

So all I'm really saying is that if less people owned guns, less people would get injured or killed by them. Makes logical sense to me & you can't argue with that logic.

I can, because I have a theory that if less people owned guns they would be the people more likely to use them for harm, but lets not get into a gun debate. I'm not that much an advocate of it anyways. It still holds to reason if a crazy person wanted to kill people, there'd be plenty of other ways too.

I don't want this debate again either

I can see what you are saying, but that theory is flawed as it's proven in other countries with less guns that it isn't the case.

true, and obviously it happens, it's all part of human nature to cull our own species.

The problem is that if you ban guns, then by definition only criminals have them. Therefore if a law-abiding citizen encounters a an armed criminal, the citizen is GUARANTEED to be less-well armed. Studies have show that there is a deterrent factor if there is a chance that the law-abiding citizen might be armed, so as long as some good guys have guns, the world is a safer place.

However, most gun deaths in the US are not caused by criminals, but rather by household accidents becasue the NRA has such a powerful lobby against any kind of gun control that they can't even pass a law stating that guns must be kept in a  gun safe to stop children getting at them.

Of course, if they legalised hard drugs too then:

a) It would probably put all the drugs criminals out of business as the big tobacco companies moved into the market
b) Governments could tax the drugs quite highly but still they would have a cheaper street price because of the legal risks are gone
c) Governments wouldn't have to spend so much money on policing it all
d) Health warnings could be placed on the drugs
e) Most drugs deaths are ultimately down to the inconsistent purity of drugs on the street, and so government regulation would eliminate this problem too
f) The drug money would not be going to criminals, so the criminals would be poorer

Not that I ever want to take drugs, but if you look at the effect alchohol prohibition had in the US, why should it be any different with drugs? Some things are just counterproductive to ban...

I actually agree with ssh on the drug issue. I don't do the drugs, but I get sick of seeing our legal and corrections systems bogged down by guys who got caught smoking pot. Jails and prisons and courts are full of them, to the point where the even have specail courts just for drug cases....

I say, if somebody wants to kill themselves or screw up their heads, let them. But then, who takes care of them when they go brain dead on the shit? Thats the prob I see with that. Also, I don't really fancy the idea of people walking around high all the time...since theirs no practical way to test if you've taken many of these drugs in the last couple of hours, you couldn't see if somebody was doing them while driving or at work....

True, but then why do you think that people don't already drive while drugged anyway? Places that have legalised cannabis have generally seen only a very small increase in the number of people who take it.

In Oklahoma you are allowed to carry a concealed weapon (Normally this is illegal) with a license, it hasn't really cut crime that much. Most people won't carry them, so really it doesn't matter if the criminals are the only ones with guns in the end.

panda_isnt_dead

ohio is going to have that become a law soon too

Squinky

Really, what good is that provision? Tons of people here in Idaho carry Concealed Weapons Permits, but unless you plan on having a gun on you at all times, whats the point? I personally own many firearms (it's kinda required for my job) but I don't like having them around....

SSH

Yeah, I guess I was just figuring that more people would use...

"It's not Games that make people psychotic, and it's not the fault of gun laws or the state of the world."

I disagree, two days ago I played GTA3 til 5 in the morning and later that day I told my mom to drive over the jogger in front of us. I was so into the game before I forgot where I was.

shbaz

That doesn't prove anything, I played GTA for 12 hours straight once trying to beat it in one go and I stopped patiently for people crossing the street.

I think you're just crazy. Here's why: If that happened to me, I'd definately stop or slow down significantly on the video games.
