Hi there! Inspired by Vel's decision to release an album as a Christmas gift to everyone, I've decided to share a piece of music I composed back in late 2005. I'm not looking for critiques, so I thought it would make sense to put it here instead of the Critics Lounge. Anyway, here it is...

Thirteen Dreams
A Miniature Operetta of Sonic Images and Spoken Word
by Luke Simpson

This is a short multi-movement work for two electric guitars, cello, and six speaking voices. It's a piece of program music with a very loosely connected (and mostly esoteric) story consisting primarily of inside jokes and references to other works that I have created or am in the process of creating. This was actually written and very hastily recorded in a single week as a class exercise in which I had to write a piece of music based on a drawing, which was in itself based on another piece of music. So since I did this in such a short amount of time, please forgive me for the occasional blunder, timing error, etc. Also, I myself recorded both guitars, the cello, and all six characters, so please excuse the... er... crappiness of the spoken parts.

If you want to let me know what you think, feel free. If you want to critique it, you can, but again, that's not really why I'm putting this here. I just wanted to share it with you guys.

In case there's any confusion, the Coda goes at the end after track 12. If you read the program, you might notice that there is a thirteenth movement which doesn't appear to be in the zip file. This movement is only one note and is contained in the end of track 12, so there really is no missing thirteenth file. Track 6 is an ogg because the mp3 wasn't working for some reason that I couldn't figure out.

Anyway, I guess I'll stop talking now.
