Title: As if Microsoft doesn't have enough private info on it's users!

Big Brother Microsoft takes yet more steps to invade and spy on your privacyÃ,  :o

QuoteMicrosoft says its new hardware is more for convenience

Yeah, convenient to spy on what you're doing on your computer  ;D

OKay okay, I been using Windows OS for years now, and for the most part I'm happy with using it... but still, it's a bit of an eye-opener to see and think about how more advances in technology such as this "Fingerprint Reader" Microsoft is introducing with it's hardware/software could possibly be used to further spy on the typical computer user and when/what/where they are doing on thier computers. Yes, in some ways I can see how it could be used for "security" reasons, but I also imagine how it could be exploited in other ways as well.

That keyboard is useless. You could just cut off a guy's hand with a butcher's knife and use that.

It's been proven that simple jello-like moldings can defeat fingerprint readers as well. I thought about coating my finger with a fake print when I renewed my drivers license, because I don't like being subjected to that kind of scrutiny (the chance of my prints matching with some crime and having to defend myself against the guilty until proven innocent system). Unfortunately, the chances of that working are extremely slim so I just cut off another guys hand while the clerk wasn't looking.

If you have ever watched MacGyver, you'll know how to get past the fingerprint reader if it needs another person's fingerprints. :P

Psh. Only if you want to make it easy on yourself.

I think the fingerprint scanner is a kind of cool idea, no more logins at uni, just whack your finger on the keyboard and it does it for you. Think about it, it could save me a grand total of half a second every single time I log on. That'll add up eventually. After a while I'll have a whole day with nothing to do because I've saved so much time by not typing in a user name.

A friend of mine usually doesn't have fingerprints.  She makes miniature wooden toys (we're talking so small you can hold them on your fingertips) and constant use of sandpaper and solvents wears her fingerprints away.  When she immigrated to Canada from South America, they almost didn't let her in because they couldn't take her prints.

So using one of these keyboards would be a royal pain in the rear for her.

DG: The Law and Order reference filled me with joy. Huzzah to you, good sir!

No, she was probably brewing moonshine. Capone had the same result.

Heh I think if fingerprints won't work they'll release also taste bud readers, that is, unless you are one of those poor souls who don't have any tongue!
