Title: Autodesk Animator
Post by: Kal-El on Sun 09/10/2005 12:33:54
Anyone know where to find a copy of this? I don't want the Pro version, I want the old dos-based 320x200 version...

I believe it's freeware now so I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me out or possibly email it to me?

I'm starting up my Dick LaRenzo: Secret Agent! game again and really need this for the cut-scenes.

Cheers in advance!

Daz.

Thanks for the replies Minimi but I don't think that's the right program. That's just for converting to FLI files I think, besides, it won't work lol.

If it's free have you tried the autodesk site? They'd offer a download.

There's no mention of Autodesk Animator on their site at all. Guess it's too old and out of date now.

Animator Pro is the best one (DOS, 320x200 primarily but can run other resolutions). This was my favorite art program, since it never crashed and had so many good features (great pallette management, animation, etc.).

On a side note, I worked as a beta-tester on Animator Studio (which was intended to be a Windows port, but with more features, highcolor, and music and sound), but that program was far inferior.

I've never found an art program that did pixel art as well as Animator Pro. It has a really nice, solid feel to it. I think it has to do with the way that the mouse cursor would snap to the nearest pixel, so it was more like drawing with an invisible grid. Anyway, I thought it was cool. It also does palletes really well. There's some quite cool stuff you can do with Animator Pro. I remember some of the hilarious animations Ian (Big Brother) used to create with Animator Pro. Now I'm all nostalgic. :P I wish I could find some of those animations.
