I thought the demo was a letdown. I really loved the faux-noir/steampunk/pulp novel/farce style of it, the cutscenes were amazing, and the writing was relatively solid, but I hated the combat system, which appears to be the centre of the game, and I was pretty disappointed that the "demo" consisted entirely of the tutorial. I also felt a bit ripped off that the menu was introduced with this grim, highly-stylized art deco 1920s dark rainy metropolis, and that the demo itself took place in a sunny cut of suburbia. Also, is it even possible to rotate the camera? You would think the demo would tell you these sorts of things.

It looks really cool, but I just didn't enjoy playing it  :-[

QuoteThe humour is typical Penny Arcade, which, depending on your personal tastes, is either a good thing or a bad thing.

Decidedly bad, imo.

I bought it off Xbox Live Arcade, which would be a bit cheaper for me because I got discount on the points in my shop, hehe.

I liked it, and I liked the humour. Not laugh-out-loud, just amusing.

Yep, if you don't block at the right time you get dealt more damage, and in particular the last boss fight requires that you do this if you want to survive. When theres plenty of enemies on the screen and it can hairy and I'd miss an enemies' attack cos I was busy looking at my items and what to use.

Ron Gilbert, I can only guess, probably implemented the idea that you can look at various objects in the game like benches, bins etc to get an amusing comment on it.

I'd give the game 78%. Although it's my favourate Xbox Live Arcade game, having never paid for one before..

I tried the demo and I can't say that I got the best impression. As mentioned, the fighting was rubbish, the humour was meh/okay and without being a gfx whore, the graphics were really repulsive :-\ Had they made the game with the awesome 2D art from the cutscenes, I'd probably be more impressed.

Only played the demo.. The humor's okay, but the camera angles and combat system left me unimpressed.
I'm looking forward more to that DeathSpank game.
