Title: Beautiful? Any ideas?
Post by: Nikolas on Wed 18/10/2006 11:21:58
Well I'm going to sleep now.

It's 11:17 in London, and I haven't slept all night. Go figure... But done a lot of work :D YAY! me!

And right now, I'm thinking if I did has anyhting to do with beautiful! Or better, I'm so dead from tireness that I would like to lay in bed and ofr the 30 secs that will remain awake to think of osmething beautiful, with the full sense of the word.

I, however, cannot define beautiful. I know the feeling, I like nostalgia and places I've been with my wife, and the time my kids were born, and actually last night that Dimitris fall asleep in my arms again (got to love that...). I also think that listening to some very special music (like that Robbie track I did last year for esper for example, and because it's mine), would trigger beautiful thoughts.

but philosophically spekaing, beauty is not objective by any means...

So, while being totally honest, could you whare beautiful, moments, or feelings, or thoughts, or art with the rest of us???

I wont' be around today (at leats for some hours) to see the answer... still AGS is a die hard habbit... you all know that...

Yup, but still I was hoping for your idea of beauty not mine ;)

I'd love to, but I'm afraid that the NDA are holding me back atm. In a little time I may throw tunes from AGS games in...  :-\

What is beauty?

I think it is just the thing we want to see or we need for.
Maybe a double cheeseburger we see on a dish or just a glass of icy water as we are in a moment of shortage.
Maybe just a view of nature... Or just our family.

The reason why beauty's subjective is that our needs/wants are different.

Well; this is just a quick theory of mine for beauty. It could be all wrong.

Exactly! You mention a cheeseburger and I repulse in disgust. Your eyes see a delicious edible item that will give your tastebuds joy, and my eyes see a dead cow grinded up into a disc shape, that would taste disgusting.

I see beauty almost everyday, in people, in places, in sound and more. It's whatever it can be to yourself personally. Something I find beautiful you might not, but that doesn't mean there aren't beautiful things out there for you. So, I don't see the point in posting anything I find beautiful, because you might not - but nonetheless I'm sure you'll find something! :)

i.e. your wife and kids so stop asking us to give you more beauty :P

Beauty is a sensory input that just makes you sad and devastated at the state of existance.

There are times when everyone looks somewhat beautiful. Then there are times when every person you talk to are hideously ugly. Depends on how close to spring you are, or on the mood anyway...

A lot of jokes are made about Morgan Freeman narrating movies. But forget about that... Best way I can describe something beautiful is that scene that Morgan Freeman narrates in Shawshank Redemption where the prisoners are drinking beer after tarring the roof.

QuoteAnd that's how it came to pass that on the second-to-last day of the job, the convict crew that tarred the plate factory roof in the spring of forty-nine wound up sitting in a row at ten o'clock in the morning drinking icy cold, Bohemia-style beer, courtesy of the hardest screw that ever walked a turn at Shawshank State Prison. The collosal prick even managed to sound magnanimous.

We sat and drank with the sun on our shoulders and felt like free men. Hell, we could have been tarring the roof of one of our own houses. We were the lords of all creation. As for Andy - he spent that break hunkered in the shade, a strange little smile on his face, watching us drink his beer.

You could argue he'd done it to curry favor with the guards. Or, maybe make a few friends among us cons. Me, I think he did it just to feel normal again.

If only for a short while.
