My game Illusion of Murder will be about 80 meg compressed, and I am wanting peoples opinion on what the best free file hosting service is.

Elliot Hird runs a 1gb limit upload service (http://www.developer7.org/files/), and at americangirlscouts.org we have AGS uploads (http://www.americangirlscouts.org/agsuploads/index.php) (which is currently limited to 25mb, but I don't see any reason it couldn't be increased to 100), our server is fast and has unlimited bandwidth... presumably Elliot's is too (although, someone just cruelly broke Elliot's upload service by uploading a .htaccess file! Shouldn't take more than a second or two to fix when he notices).
Basically we have enough bandwidth and space to host all AGS games ever released, so it's slightly annoying when people refuse to use these services and go and upload their games on rapidshare type services, which are often slow, and become dead links after a while.
If you want people to be able to download from a very reliable server which is very fast - purchase hosting. If you want people to get your game, however slow it may be, but reliable, use AGS uploads. If you want to be stubborn and use rapidshare or similar websites, your game will be not fast for download, and it will not be reliable.
So if you don't want to spend money - use the tools offered and don't whine. These people pay for their hosting and offer it for free - if the download goes at 15k/s or above, it's fast enough.
Filefront offers free unlimited space and bandwidth. It's fast, too.

AGS Uploads is served off a dedicated 3ghz 64 bit, 1gb ram server with a 100mbit connection (which drops to 10mbit after 1000GB are transfered, but can be switched back up), no bandwidth limit, so it's almost certainly faster than any cheap hosting would be, we only serve some low bandwidth sites, AGS IRC and a cs:s server on it at the moment.Ã, What puts people off using it? We could add an ftp upload option if people don't like uploading in a browser... I guess.
We plan to mirror all AGS games into an archive anyway, this just makes it easier to collect them, and gets the links pointing to somewhere reliable :)
I never wanted to imply that AGS uploads was slow. I said "however slow it might be", meaning that I don't know how fast or non-fast (heh) it is :)

I just realised my band is through an american hosting service; Netfirm I think it is. I inquired with the guitarist from my band what the plan that is chosen for the website.

I don't think I'd get past 750gb even though it is working in conjunction with my bands site which is mainly some mp3s, videos, pictures and text.
Yeah, you'd have to be releasing KQ3VGA to get through that much bandwidth.
