Am I alone in thinking that it sounded like crap?

The last maybe 5 seconds sounded real good because it wasn't all... smashed together and made more sense.

Maybe technically he's awesome but to me it's like "Ok... calm down a touch."

Here's one Dream Theater solo I've been trying to play on my guitar, but it's so damn fast and hard to 'rip'.

The tab:
Dream Theater - Erotomania Solo.doc (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Dream_Theater_-_Erotomania_Solo.doc)

And here's how it sounds in the song
Dream Theater - Erotomania solo.mid (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Dream_Theater_-_Erotomania_solo.mid)

Btw, this tab wasn't made by me, I downloaded it from mysongbook.

Man, I saw Justin play in Rochester, NY last year.  He's really good, sounds just like his recordings live.

If you like this stuff, you should check out Keller Williams.  I don't have a link, but a google search should be easy enough.

Actually the whole thing was very structured.  It was not by any means "smashed together."  I've never heard of the guy before so I have no bias either way, but I've got to say that was pretty amazing.

Dream Theater is awesome, and John Petrucci is awesome. That midi wasnt the best example (maybe it was just this old sound card), and that song is awesome too. He's a bit full of himself I think live, but yeah, thats my opinion. I havnt really learnt any solos, cos I'm not all that grat at them, but yeah I've learnt most of The Silent Man, but that can't be that hard.
