Title: Blobocide
Post by: PsychicHeart on Sat 18/03/2006 10:35:28
Greetings,
I have been thinking about making some cartoony videos for a while now, and i finally got off my @$$ and did it.
http://rapidshare.de/files/15794052/Blobocide_Ep_I.WMV.html

The video is entitled Blobocide: EpisodeÃ,  I.
I know there are a few bad details like the fact you can barely see the writing for the ninja and the napoleon dynamite, and the music sounds damn awful in .wav, but it was the best i could do with WMM, and until i buy something better, i'm stuck with itÃ,  :-\.
Cheers,
Fluke.

This is what happens to kids who play too many video games and watch too many cartoons...

I'm sorry, Fluke. But trying to make funny excuses about why you can't draw or animate or write correctly doesn't make you movie inherently funny.

"You have downloaded 68685 KB. Want to download more?

Doesn't sound like I'm missing out on much anyway?

I followed the process quite far, until all mention of the download had disappeared completely, and I just gave up.

I'm Ace!

Yes, Fluke told me I'm an ace! Yeah!

Well... that was almost entertaining. The music was nice, and well done!

the graphics could've been better, but I really like the blobs, honestly.

The plot was

Anyway I hope you'll have a second episode and if you do I will watch it!

As for rapidshare, try to find something else to upload your files....

Cheers,

Yeah, it's a bit like a hardcore "Where's Wally" picture when using that site.

I found it quite amusing, but could you still make something that makes more sense next time, please. ;)

Sense is optional, fancy graphics are optional, humour isn't. Unfortunately I don't think this had any of 'em, but it did get me curious for future episodes.
Also, it'd have been better if the text didn't stay on screen so long - I think I skipped ahead through about 2/3 of it without actually missing a single thing.

[lgm]: meh, i tried, you can't, make everyone happy etc. etc.
ManicMatt: that's for you to decide.
Mr. Flibble: yes, rapidshare is a tack in the ass in that way.
Nikolas: well, at least your post is almost sincere.
Pablo: okay, as long as myÃ,  low self-esteem and confidence doesn't turn me into a mindless zombie.
Ashen: It wasn't supposed to be funny. Didn't you read the first part, it's a time-wasting pathetic piece of tripe.
BOYD1981:Ã,  :(

Thank you for calling me "Ace" ^_^

I understand your intended humour, however I think it came off as a bit sarcastic, rather than fun (partly due to the slooooow pace).Ã,  Don't dwell on it, though--this was your first video, and now that you realize that yes, you CAN make one, you can concentrate on making the next one better.
Good luck with future episodes!

EDIT: fixed grammar

That kicked ass.

It was not funny.

It had no plot.

Animation was sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-par.

It generally sucked.

But it kicks more ass then if you genetically combined bhudda, jesus, ghandi, and a 30 pound monkey named ling ling.

Was this, err, piece made with flash?
If so, why didn't you publish the 5k swf instead of a 1 Meg wmv?

I had to laugh really hard when the one blob and the other blob - oh wait, not true, the funniest thing yet was BOYD1981's comment.

BOYD 1981's comment? Oh, you mean that "you're hopeless and you'll never amount to anything" kind of post? the post that made me want to bash his brains in with some form of birdcage? The over-obsessed, selfish post? The one with no help or advice whatsoever? That one?

There's only one, afaik.
So, was it an swf? And do you really wanna tell me you're surprised of the respones after posting stuff like that?

No it was made with Windows Movie Maker. As stated in the beginning of the thread.

sorry to double-post but it needs to be said. Everyone hates me in this forum.
I came to this forum a year and two days ago, full of excitement over how fun developing my own games would be. So i signed up to the forums, after reading as much as possible of the AGS Manual, full of beans and ready to join this new community. Over that time, for one reason or another, all but a few of you have, in all honesty, grown to hate me.
I don't know why, but for some reason my statements and views have angered you to a state where anything i post is bad,n00bish stuff, barely worth reading. You people said it yourself, i've changed from my noob ways, yet you still treat me badly and as the butt of everyone's moron jokes. For shame.

Sorry to reply but this needs to be said:

I have always treated you with nothing but respect! You know that, and I know that your post is not aimed at me.

But you have to understand a thing or two.

First of all, I do believe that this is a fun community and sometimes we do make fun of other members... It happens you must accept it... Of course I have to say that you have been a target one too many times.

Second of all you need to sit back a little a think your previous posts, your previous accomplishements, your previous released games and so on...

I would really love to see a second Blobocide, but because it is you that made it, I honestly am afraid that there won't be a second episode ever. And that is based on the facts that you have droped out of everything you have started here in the forums so far.

Prove me wrong.

Also I may be nice and try to be helpful and all, but not everybody is like me. My post had the same meaning as everyones else. It's just that I can't stop having faith to anyone, no matter how long it takes. So while Boyd said that you are hopeless, basically, and I fidn it wrong, still there is nothing that you have showed us that is worth really something.

Except your music:

Your two midi tracks were very good, and in the second one you even tried to make it better. And if you remember (if ytou don't check the thread), everyone was amazed that you actully wrote that music! you had positive comments from everyone, and even Matt couldn't believe that you wrote that, and I defended you...

I know how you feel, but honestly your first midi was 100s times better than the blobocide! I'm sorry but some things have to be taken into facts. Move on. Make the secodn episode, don't drop out, stop whinning cause it is tiring to do it all the time and you do have a tendency to do it (but I actually see why you do it and I can't say that I wouldn't do the same 15 years ago), and work even more. Stop using this community for every little bit of creation you made (and it is amazing that you have such a creative mind at such a young age), and try to concetrate on one single project, so that it can be completed!

Right now, I knwothta you're working on a 50% ready game, writing music for a friend, drawing a frog like creature for I don't knwo where, but not your game, writing and directing a movie called Blobocide, and God knows what else. Don't you think that it's a lot? I wouldn't be able to keep up with all these things at the same time!

:)

Well I have to wait 9 minutes, I personaly like flukeblake. I have never seen any issues and the fact that he actually made something makes him something in my eyes. Alot of people mouth of in these forums never doing anything.

(This is the part where you guys ask me what i did? :) )

Anyway my point is not to force people to be creative, I would like to help people find there creativity howver some of these comments in this room make me worry.

Guys his 13 what do you have to show for yourself at the age of 13?

This needs to be said ;

monkey_05_06 : What have you done?
[lgm] : youve release prodigal, and i bet it was real easy... remember this rating..

Manicmutt : What the hell , maybe you should check if your missing out on anything.

Pablo : enjoyed it some...

Ashen : Gave some constructive critisism.

Erenan: O time to comment about your graphics, stop hi jacking the thread!

Haddas: Thats true, the point is do we go on because we had some support or do we stop because everybody is acting like asses!?

Boyd1981: Ditto, ditto and ditto.

Lord nipper: Are you being sarcastic?

KrisMUC: I am deeply dissapointed. You of all should know better... :(

Nikolas : I agree with Nikolas to try and concentrate on one thing at a time or maybe two. I work on about 3-5 projects at a time I dont post all of them because I know that not all my projects have had 100% of my attention so not all will be appreciated. Hence my sprite in the C&C area didnt have all of my attention as I was working on 3 things at once that very same night and that took me about 20mins however I posted it because of the fact that I need to get it done and to me it feels like some sort of responsibility when its up there.

Flukeblake:

Focus on your strengths, Rapid share doesnt let me download but receiving a compliment from Nikolas saying your midi is good is a lifetime achievement! Hes a proffesional music composer! And your only 13!!! WAY TO GO!
Remember that the masses are not always right and the fact that you take some of these opinions to heart is not healthy some people are jerks and will always stay jerks. You however must take everybodys opinion as an artist and believe me everybody has one! And turn that into positive energy which you incorporate into your work!

Goodluck on your future projects and ps. Would love to see your blobocide. (Rapid share sucks) see another opinion!
;)

Cheers

Afflict.

Just to clarify: I was very impressed by both the midis you've posted. I've never even tried composing something, but to me it sounded like you've really for once put some effort into something.

And then this Blobocide stuff. Thrown together in half an hour, absolutely not funny, at least by the standards of 95% of the people who responded here.

I don't wanna be an ass, but I'm absolutely sure, if you looked back on the things you're publishing now in about 5 to 10 years, you'd be deeply embarrassed (except the midis, of course). Don't get me wrong, this is normal.
I published short stories in the school paper when I was about your age. It gives me the shivers when I read them now.

It all comes down to age, take beer or coffee, for example. You don't enjoy drinking it when you are a kid, you just think it's gross. You might even go so far as to state you'd never drink it, even when you're old. But grown ups drink it all the time. And they actually like it. I can't imagine myself enjoying classical music, yet I know the time will come. Taste changes over the years, and that's the exact reason why this community can't and won't appreciate half-assed stuff that's obviously done by a semi-talented 13 yo.

Put some effort in your work, return to it after receiving crits and don't write like a wannabe intellectual wiseass.

the only insult in that reply is in your mind, it was meant as a reply to what haddas said and not as an insult.

Flukeblake: You have come a long way since you were a n000000b..

But the fact is, It's a fad to make fun of you now. So everyone does it without regard. I'm sorry if I have made fun of you, it just happens man. THis is the internet, I don't hate anyone here.

I haven't heard your MIDI but I will check it out. But man, if you really want to impress people either stop trying so hard, or try harder.

For the record, it's kinda paranoid to think everybody hates you.

And a better alternative to Rapidshare for movies is YouTube. (Google it cause I can't be arsed) Nice big thing with a great community. No download limits or anything!

And I don't hate you Flukebake. Sure, I remember the days when you were as annoying and childish as heck, but you've honestly matured whilst on these forums. Same here actually, but I'm so damn inactive (Damn RPG's! I WILL BEAT YOU ALL SOMEDAY!) that I've managed to avoid the repocussions of newbishness.

And for the record again, the above paragraph and several of the posts before me are off topic. I'm gonna go into minimod mode here and point this out.  :=

Seriously. I've seen some of you naysayers be ten times more childish than flukey here. And don't try and pass the buck either.

I am going to talk by myself... 2,999 members have behaved "normally" from the beginning. Fluke, you behaved like an arse at the beginning (PM to the moderators and claiming to boycott Andail).

The fact that now you don't behave like an arse now won't make me respect you. There are another 2,900 AGSers who behave "normally" and they don't have my respect either, why should you be special?

Why I respect 99 AGS members? because his merits, of all kind, going from their art skills to its friendship or behaviour...

You should make double of that merits to have my respect (For cancelling the effect of your unfortunate start...).

But, at the moment, your contributions just don't touch me... And your constant claims for respect (allways talking on my case) don't help.

Hope it helps you to understand the feelings of, at least one, of the guys who don't like you, and helps you to go in the right direction.

Sincerelly, a member who is opened to respect you.

Nikolas, I said that I respect people by many positive artists, from artistical skills or behaviour. People can gain my respect by many ways, man... even a nice chat in #Mirc can work! Do you think, after all those laughs, that I don't respect you?  :)

Anyway, we should change "respect" by "admiration" or friendship... Nobody should lose the respect just by internet stuff, you can have lovely surprises when you personally meet the people...

Most people here don't hate you, they just get annoyed with you quite often. This is because you start a lot of pointless threads, and get overly defensive and aggressive whenever somebody tells you about it.

You have got exactly what you deserve, no less, no more.

Note that this is a response to your fiery defense speech about being undeservedly hated, not to the thread per see.
