I think it was necessary that a mod say it politely before some arsehole took on themselves to lay down linguistic homogeny.

Hey! That photoshop is quite cool, I had that poster in an Enciclopedia, if I remember ok it's about applying for the SS.

I think it's cool that a german guy can make fun about the past of its country, because, IMO, Nacionalsocialism was a general hipnosys that  started and (fortunately) finished with Hitler. All the countries have its own ashaming past, if looked closely.

So... before any other say anything inapropiate, IMO, that's been cool!  :D

You're right.
And I do know that "the forums should remain english-only", however, I've seen threads about dutchs (sp?) that had dutch parts (withoutÃ,  translation) in, threads about chinese that had chinese parts (again, without translation of what was being said) inside... and nobody said anything!

Now we have this thread about brazillians and the guy couldn't express himself very well in english, so he said what he wanted to know in portuguese!

Hope this gets restricted to this thread, at least, and that he'll get to know the forum rules and try to follow them.

QuoteI think it's cool that a german guy can make fun about the past of its country

"XYZ remains German" is common Nazi slogan. I was quite surprised to find the same syntax at a place like this.
There are many sentences of native English speakers I can't understand, too. So I just ignore them and don't blame them for my bad language skills.

What does XYZ mean? I remember posters like that with hidden significances, like a poster of a Japanese soldier breaking a chair made with the letters "ABCD" (Americans, Britains, Chineses and Dutchs) The counties that were supposedly thratening Japan.

PS: Sorry about the "out of threadism"... I love WWII stuff.

PSS: D-Day 60th annyversary!

Exactly what I was about to say.
Let's not get out of the subject of this thread or it might get locked without completing it's purpose.
Let's get restricted to what's related to the first post!

*ahem*
So, Vinnicius, I also heard about a guy named eutoejaum (or something like that) but I don't recall seeing him on the forums.

If anyone knows someone else, please do mention, this is the purpose of this thread.

Why don't you all just create your little "GAC (http://atticwindow.adventuredevelopers.com/)" inspired grouping.  Then you can have all kinds of fun initiaion rules for getting people to join, you can talk all the languages you want on your own proboards, and work as a small community within the ags community and maybe lean on each other for help to get your games out.
Title: Re: Brazilians
Post by: Andail on Mon 07/06/2004 12:45:11
Excellent idea, Scummbuddy.

Everytime somebody starts speaking their own language, it seems they don't realise that if everybody spoke their own language all the time, this place would be a hilarious place, and we're not exactly here to have fun and goof around, we're here to learn! this place wouldn't make sense.

Basically, showing what your mother tounge looks like is not a relevant issue enough for the general discussion forum.

And now for something completely different:
Title: Re: Brazilians

QuoteWhy don't you all just create your little "GAC" inspired grouping.
Of course that's something we can do, but what happened here is that a guy (Vinnicius) was new to the forums and knew nobody here; so he thought he'd better start a thread to know others from his country who could help him getting started (afterall he can't speak in english very well); and, if he hadn't done that, I (and the other Brazillians wouldn't be "aware of his existence").

About the Portuguese: Well, he wrote that in portuguse because is the language he knows (and besides, he did try to speak in english to), when I answered I wrote in portuguese because otherwise he mightn't (sp?) have understood what I was trying to say, and since I knew the forums rules, I made the exact translation of what I had said below it.

Again: Since this thread was started let's try to avoid "getting away" from the topic or else it might be closed, and it's creator wouldn't usufrute (sp??) of what he wanted at all.

About your other question: I explaned everything to you in a PM I just sent, so that we can chat in Portuguese without being disturbed (:p)

Try your best to speak in english here in the forums (and don't worry about the mistakes you might make!)

Let's keep chatting through PMs and leave this thread to see if any other Brazilian shows up...

I'm really sorry for double posting, but I thought this was the perfect place and thread to inform all you Brazillians and Portugueses that I've translated the AGS Manual to Portuguese.
It's from v2.6
I'll update it for every new version of AGS (as soon as possible)
So, feel free to download it (there's also an HTML version)

If you're going to search the forum and find a thread, check to see how old it is first and then make sure you have something to say that is important enough to bring the thread back to life, please.
