YO, i've try BS3 it's cool man!
PLease write what do u think about bs down here!!!!!!
GEORGE AND NICO ARE BEST ADVENTURE COUPLE#2 AFTER GK AND GRACE
Yes, definitely BS
Yes. I prefer black coffee.
BS is, for me, BS.
Still, it is the one adventure game series that managed to put the "adventure" back in "adventure", especially BS3. BS3 felt like an adventure/action flick.
Might aswell ask whilst we're here.
Anyone managed to get the cut scenes to work for bs1 when using dosbox?
Chicky - use ScummVM. There's even a section on it for the cutscenes.
Yeah it's a great game all right. The console like GUI is cool too. There's some action sequences but they are really short and easy so it doesn't ruin the game, it being an adventure game, just improves it.
What's with the n00b style talk though?
Please write in a more adult manner.
No "!!!!!!!!!", no caps, grammer, complete sentences.. not too much to ask.
I've never ever heard of this game. Screenshots anywhere?
What, have you been living under a rock for the past 6/7 years?

You wanna roll with us you better start knowing your adventure games, RedPress.
Also I'm sure google will be more than willing to help you out with those screenshots.
LOLz. No, I don't think that game must've been very popular in the US, cuz I haven't been living under any rocks.
And who said I wanted to roll with you exactly? I know the adventure games I like, and that's good enough for me. And I found out why I never heard of it. It's called Circle Of Blood in North America.
Well, Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars was called Circle of Blood in the US of A, so you might know it by that name, mr. Press.
I should probably play it through some time... ._.
Yup. I've never played it, though the screenshots look pretty nifty. I found some kind of official website for the more recent game, but I noticed the flag choices didn't have a UsA one. No big deal, I will check it out.
God I'm never being ironic on the internet again.

Sorry, i meant ScummVM. What do you mean there's a section for cutscenes?
http://www.scummvm.org/downloads.php
"Extras, game downloads"
"Broken Sword Cutscene Pack"
Excellent, thank you very much!
I have both BS1 and 2 for the PS1, i also have 'sold out' copies (cheap re-releases) of them on pc but i couldn't find my BS1 pc disk anywhere.
Broken Sword is easily the best game series and BS1 being one of the top adventure games of all time (imo)!
You'll still need your BS1 pc disk to play it. I don't think ScummVM hosts the entire game, just the cutscenes.
Yeah, i know that. I've already got a 'backup' copy of both cd's on my computer.
Smart guy. ;)
========Searching for BS3 Patch======
I've play bs3, but i found a VERY VERY VERY SERIOUS bug!
At the end of paris3 scene , after george was attacked by the neo-templars,
The game freezes! i've tried to find patches on the NET and GOOGLE but
worthless!!
COULD somebody help me????????????
Hmm, there aren't any patches on the official site (http://revolution.co.uk), but the troubleshooting section mentions this:
QuoteThe PC version crashes unexpectedly?
If you do not have directx 9 try installing it.
I loved BS1+2, and BS3 was great fun too, except when I got to Montfaucon (with the building site). While talking to the builder guy, just going through the topics etc, the game froze. My speakers looped, monitor read 'no signal' and I don't think the reset switch even worked. When I managed to restart Windows refused to load and gave me a grave error about a corrupt file in the \system32\config folder, and the backups in that folder and elsewhere wouldn't work either. It also screwed up my harddisk partitions so I had to completely reformat, which wasn't very nice. Nevertheless, when the computer was up and running again I downloaded the lastest drivers, latest DX, latest patch for BS3 and carried on. Except it didn't, it did it again at exactly the same point. Since then I've pretty much replaced everything in my computer but I daren't try it again.
So yea, the BS games are great, I assume I just had a freak error with my PC.
I liked BS1, BS2 was a bit easy for me as the puzzles i found were the a bit the samey.
BS3 i didnt play as im a 2d man myself. Simon 3d and Monkey4 did not impress me at all for 1 reason and 1 reason only ... 3D
Fair enough the world still turns when you settle on something you like but 3D... Why 3D? in my opinion 3D ruins the way we play adventure games, the customer is now limited on how far outside the box they can see as everything is there, all angles are visible the imagination is put to the rear of gameplay and the customer/viewer no longer can expect the unexpected.
When i am awake i will probably rewrite this so it makes sense
Does anyone else see where i am coming from ;D
I Have DirectX 9.0c in my PC but bs3 still freezes!
A little bit more talking about this game and I'll be forced to play it all over again.
Man, it's been a while since i played it.
When was the last time you guys played your broken swords?
Help me with the BS3 patches please!
My computer has met the minimum reqs!
ps:where could i find the free and full bs1 game data for scummvm?

You can find cutscene packs for scummvm at http://www.scummvm.org/downloads.php, but the game itself is not free. You could try amazon or ebay if you're interested in buying it.

They said that BS4 would offer a CONCLUSION to the series!
What a big fukkin' lie that was!
(btw, welcome back Mr. Wolfie)

but.....
I DON'T HAVE ANY CREDIT CARDS!
is there any way to buy it without cards?
ps:Is SimonTheSorcerer games (1,2 - scummvm version) FREE?
Use your parents' credit card?
Or use paypal, but you need a bank account anyway.

I feel sad, seeing as I haven't had a chance to play BS4: The Angel Of Death yet...
You're not missing out on much...
I recently started replaying BS1 and 2 again, for like the 10th time. I love those games. BS3 was a bit different, but still good. BS4 just kinda sucks.
Now that I'm working on my own game, I look at them much deeper. I know the story and all the locations by heart, so I'm more focused on technical things, like how the people are animated, what makes the background less static, how certain functions would work. It's good fun.
RAY-O, you can try out demos of the Broken Sword games and the Simon the Sorceror games, along with numerous others, on the ScummVM website...here (http://www.scummvm.org/demos.php).
That's the best you're going to get as neither series can be considered "abandoned".
For adventures that are "abandoned", you can try Abandonia (http://www.abandonia.com/genre.php?genre=adventure&page=0).
umm......
my parents doesn have any credit cards
but they have a debite card.......
but they dont allow me to buy games with it
So you take your anger out by leaving huge spaces.
Has anyone played broken sword 4 yet? I've bought it but cant run it right yet.
Broken Sword 1 is one of the best aventures ever!
The best Adventure in my opinion is GK1.
I didn't use to like steam but I've really warmed up to it this year, and if you pay close attention you can get some AMAZING package deals for retro games off there. At one point you could get 6 or so lucasarts games for 5 bucks, all guaranteed to work on modern systems. Broken Sword 2 and 3 are selling on there right now for $3 each until January 3.
Welcome to 2007 :=
Since my previous post on this thread i have completed BS3 and 4 and can say that they have nothing on the first two games, BS4 being worthless.
Also since this thread has been resurrected and the forums are somewhat more strict now, i recommend a move to adventure related.

I also like to state this the very obvious, for no real reason, I just have to say or else my brain will stop working.
It's a nice day!
