Does anyone have this game... I saw it in the store for the PC the other day, and it caught my eye, I read the back about the free roaming monsters, and you not only need to manage your health, but your sanity in order to stay alive.

Such things like having hallucinations and other things as your insanity goes up, seems like a mix of an adventure game, FPS, and Survival Horror all rolled up into one.

Anyway, it looks nifty, I just wonder if anyone here has it or has played it.

I played through the two first chapters. At worst it was a blatant tunnel-runner.
At best it had a nice paranoid/jumpy atmosphere and some illusion of freedom.
Hell is like Tetris, make sure that you fit.

Hrm... so although the monsters are free roaming, you aren't... bah... So it's more of a get to point A from point B then.

Esper's mentioned about this game as well in a bit of detail:

Looks like it might be a unique and interesting game to check out.
Maybe I'll pick it up myself at some point.
Conan: "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!"
Mongol General: "That is good."

I think it's a great game.

Sometimes the stealth simply doesn't work though - it becomes a teeth-gritting 'hope they don't notice' experience. Also, the save points system drives me insane. However, the atmosphere, the gameplay, the insanity...just too cool for school.

I enjoyed it a lot, though it has its faults.

It does become too reliant on conventional FPS gameplay two thirds of the way in, but up to that point it offers some unique and creepy gameplay.

The weaponless chase (in the players case :P) through the boarding house, desperately trying to lock doors, cutting off your pursuers, as you weave throught the dilapidated rooms and out onto the rooftops, ranks as one of my favourite moments in a recent game.

I highly recommend it. :-*

Gaaah. I've been trying to get this game forever, but it's so expensive everywhere. I don't want to pay 42 bucks (Canadian) for it, without trying the darn thing. Call me cheap, but I want it to be more around the 30 bucks price range.
I make music.

Ghormak

That's pretty much what it's worth, I'd say. It's not a flawless game, but if you find it for cheap it should be well worth the purchase. It has some great moments.

Hmm over here in the UK I've seen it brand new for a tenner, probably due to poor sales.

I played it for a bit, but the technical faults caused me to stop. Whenever I pressed a movement key, the pc would make a "doink" sound, like when your PC is locked up and the keys don't respond anymore when you press them. Also, anytime I wanted to save or change an option and I pressed Esc the screen would go white and the game locked up. Together with the so-so gameplay I never continued it. The mood looked great though, and maybe if those things were fixed I might have a look again.

LimpingFish

Never had any technical faults with myself. :-\

Not sure if a patch was released for it, but I can't be sure.

And as ManicMatt has said, in the UK and Ireland anyway, you can pick it up on PC or XBOX for next to nothing. GAME has had it as part of their 2 games for E25 deal pretty much since it game out.

Except where you have to jump to ledges and you realize your character jumps on his best day like a dwarf with his legs cut off.

Also, the game starts to drag on after awhile, and by the end I literally got too bored to finish it.  Some of the levels are fun, though.
